One of the most famous sports stadiums in the world turns 100 this year (new and old version combined!)
The theatre for many a rugby league drama I have been lucky enough to have visited many times for RL, music and American Football. The site of the old twin towers as the tube emerged from below ground always set the heart racing. The walk down Wembley way full of excitement and anticipation.
The slow cattle jam back to the tube joking with the local coppers and either being heavy of heart or over the moon. Many a tear of joy and sorrow been shed on the Wembley terraces!
My club has graced the hallowed turf 6 times and I've been fortunate to have been there for 4 of them.
My fave memory was not actually a RL game (though obviously the 1980 CC final was special but I was probably just a bit too young to appreciate the enormity of it) but in 1986 we queued for hours to see Madonna at Wembley and as the gates opened I sprinted down the pitch imagining I was going length of the field for a CC final winning try! Glory days
