Wests Tigers are a disgrace

Miss the point much spud and marshall magic?

The point is they want to dictate to the NZRL about his selection. If he is fit to play NRL he is fit to play for NZ if chosen. If they decide not to choose him, that's fine. But it's about the gall of the club to think they can tell the NZRL what to do and deny their own player a Test jumper even if they decide he's fit to play at club level.

Tim Sheens said he wouldn't stand in the way of a player playing international footy, and it's pretty clear he's been rushed back early for this game, do you anything official from the club saying he can't play for the kiwis.

As for Farah, in the end he decided not to play for Lebanon, so it really was a non-issue.

The Farah situation began when the Tigers wouldn't let him go. Whether he wanted to go or not means nothing. It's the principle.
And as for Benji, the very thought that Tim Sheens could stand in someone's way or that a club could say he can't play for the Kiwis just shows how arrogant these people are. They have no right, NO RIGHT, to make a decision either way. It's between the player and the NZRL (and maybe his doctor and the NZRL's doctor) and that's it.

Why spoil a good story with the truth (1) ?
What Sheens said was let him get through 2 games before you consider him . Not too much to ask considering how much game time the kid has had .
Why spoil a good story with the truth (2) Farah chose not to play if it ruled him ineligable to play the final for Australia , that being an ARL direction not a WTS decision as reported in the media.

1. Tim Sheens has no right to dictate to the NZRL. They could pick him this weekend if he was fit. The club has no say in it.
2. They also have no right to stop him playing for Lebanon and that's exactly what they did. The fact that he subsequently chose not to does not absolve the club of its sin. Also it has nothing to do with the ARL. It's an international rule - he cannot play for Lebanon and be eligible for Australia with 12 (or even 24) months.

What Tim said was common sense, they should wait until he's played a couple of games before deciding on whether he should be in the side.

Yes you are right NZRL will make there own minds up .Didnt know Sheens had that sort of control over them ,but maybe giving his informed opinion might make them take a closer look rather than just select him because its Benji.

Anyway, didn't Kearney say he was reluctant to pick BM at this stage due to his injury?

uuem, Marshall Magic and ECT, you all seem to be managing to have an argument while saying the same thing!

Tim Sheens is well within his rights to say that he thinks that the NZRL should wait until after Benji has played a couple of games to make a decision on picking him. He at no point said that they could not pick him.

It is a completly different situation. One is an opinion, The other is a demand. Tim is entitled to his opinion, just like everyone else. At no point did he demand that Benji not play, in fact he said he wouldn't stand in his way.

They just had Benji on Channel Nine saying he wants to play for NZ. Hopefully that will seal it.

Seal it???

You had the facts wrong to start with. Sheens has said all along that he will not stand in Benji's way if he wants to play test football.

Benji has said he hopes to get in two games in to test himself out and if all goes well would love to play for New Zealand.

New Zealand coach, Stephen Kearney, has said Benji shouldn't rush back for test football in May as it is risky and there is a World Cup at the end of the year which is of far greater importance.

So it seems the only person who has been against Benji playing is the New Zealand coach....perhaps a little more research next time eh???

Also, at the Wests Tigers site there is currently footage of both Benji and Sheens talking about Marshall, playing this weekend, and Benji's test prospects....All in the Wests Tigers TV section.

Farah is now out indefinitely and has a permanant back injury which might cruel his entire career... but yeah, lets let him go lose to Samoa and rule himself ineligible for the rep footy he should be playing.

Sheens advised NZ not to pick Benji because he isn't good enough at the moment. He said last time they picked him and it was a major reason for their loss. Benji confirmed that he wasn't ready. But let's go ahead and weaken the team.

Knobber.

See the point, oh no you just missed it.

It's about the club sticking their bib in where it isn't wanted. Farah not playing for Lebanon in the first instance was entirely because Wests didn't let him go. They had no right to do so. His choice later to not play is another matter entirely and a matter for him. Don't pretend the Tigers were just doing the right thing by him or the game. They were looking after their own interets at the expense of international football.
Now they're trying to influence NZ selection.

And if they'd done so last time - NZ may not have sucked.

Now Jones has come out saying "I wouldn't pick Marshall"! Geez, way to be a team player Stacey: I bet Kearney appreciates having his preferences questioned out loud by the Kiwis' new mentor.

Also, Kearney has publicly said 'we're having problems' with Leeds and Wigan about Webb and Leuleulai, so that pours water on Hetherington's 'we had a deal' comment.

Anyway, I wish the players would grow some balls already: if you're about to sign a contract with Leeds, demand you get released for the int'l; I mean it's one f**king match a year! Put it in your contract you schmucks! Don't moan about it afterwards...jesus wept!

One-eyed club fans can't crawl out of that cesspool that is the NRL forum once in a blue moon and think they will have any credibility on the international forum. Just slink back and take your abuse with you.
