Gosh we're underrated this year.
We have a team that is defo capable of the Top 8 tbh.

Coughing up 26 in the first half was a worry. But the 2nd half effort was great.

Hopefully the latter is more like we'll be this season.

Happy with the win but once again we have a wasted spot on the bench.

Hanbury came on for five minutes and although he played well it will cost us in games if Sheens persists with it.

A win but i wouldnt say a good win.We still cannot tie up the ball and stop off loads If we were playing parra the first half score would have been 50 and no chance of a come back. Benji still has a sh*tty kicking game, we still let a try in right on half time ,Gibbs is still good for dumb mistakes , and Morris still cant make a break or fool anyone with his step and dummy. We have plenty to fix up but at least we seem to have a forward pack to work with.

lol OK Morris made a break ( 1 only ) .... doesnt mean he is now a champion
Benji lost the plot.... yes but thats what happens when u have sh*tty kicking skills, it happens to him all to often.
We stopped the offloads better in the 2nd half because the Raiders hardly had the ball

Considering they spent the off season working on their defense they would have to be very dirty with their efforts. The raiders had plenty of offloads in them and a couple of one on one misses were "c" grade stuff. But their were also plenty of good things to come out of the game and two points in the bank

I made notes of my impressions after watching the game on Foxtel-

* WT do not have a good kicking game still- Marshall is inconsistent wiht too many kicking mistakes, Farah is good but if they're looking for a second option to supplement Farah - pls look elsewhere than Marshall- he cant reliably do it.

* Canberra able to offload way too much- where is this defensive improvement Simmons has been working so hard on the players with?

* Ellis- very impressive.

* Forwards went well- even Gibbs but I think he was lucky not to give away a couple of stupid penalties he could have got pinged for.

* Laurie remains a good impact player from the bench.

* WT had a bad 1st half, good 2nd half.

* WT centres were quiet except for the last 10- 15 minutes.

* both WT wingers played well- Ryan & Tuiaki- but Tuiaki cannot jump for sh*t under bombs..... (low centre of gravity???)

* Moltzen played well

* Trimarchi went well off the bench.

* why was Hanbury only given a few minutes?

All in all good effort for first NRL game but the problems still there that we all know about:

* poor kicking game
* suspect defense
* use of the bench players

Positives:

* Ellis great.
* Farah is back
* Forwards went well
* Benji went OK but his kicking game does rate- they should try some others...
* Backline went well enough.
* Moltzen went well at fullback
* All the bench players went well given the opportunity.
