I wish my club didn't have pokies, but while they're competing with clubs who do and are based in a small regional city that has around 150k people, and about 400k in their catchment, spread across an enormous region, they're a necessary evil for the club's survival. Not everyone has a Russell Crowe to keep them afloat.

Unless a strict cap is put on football operations then clubs will be reliant on generating revenue, up to $25-30m, just to survive. If things keep going the way they are then regional clubs might be forced out of the game.

Logan has about 326k people and growing rapidly. It's also located between Brisbane and Gold Coast, making it very important region and one that AwFuL has targeted. Its southern suburbs are set to grow by over 100k people over the coming decades.

Growing the game in strategically important areas isn't Super League. It's not the 1980s anymore.

You've only been here a few months though. You'll figure it out eventually. The arrogance and self importance many souffs fans have will always see people keen to poke fun at the fact the club is now everything it wasn't. For decades they detested East's looking down their noses towards souffs.
