NRL Rd 8 2025 - General Non-Warriors Thread

It sounds like the bunker wont be stopping play for an infringement 10minutes earlier anymore unless its send off material. If its missed its missed which always upsets the fans if they feel like they are getting dudded, but for the betterment of the game, you cant have this bunker disruption an ongoing thing.
Yea man, was stoked to hear that. Of the whole circus, that was the single biggest pet peeve for me. The incidental contact being pinged/binned was shithouse too, but the bunker overreach had my son worried I was going to have a medical event.

For a while there it was worse than union. But unlike union, they've quickly acknowledged fans hate this shit and have moved to correct things. Deserve credit for that.

My ex-Deep Parra Mole is now my Deep Bears Mole.

Today he told me they're 'targeting Pommies' and they have 'two really bloody good ones lined up already'. It makes sense as Perth still has a large - but aging - British-born population.

I think this year, more than any other year, it is wide open. Melbourne the clear favourites, but much more beatable than in previous years.

I like the grit, and winning ugly… but the reality is we can’t win any other way, and when the rubber hits the road the better teams (when we know who they are) will handle us comfortably imo… but there’s a foundation and done good talent coming through… but peak Egan aside a middle of the road spine at best

Metcalf is getting better each game. Long kicking game always good. Last week brough lots more running game. CHT seems to be getting better at short kicking game. I'm buying into SJ's hype.

Shaun in the Aussie media saying Metcalf and Egan can take the Warriors to a premiership this year
That's to be expected, Metcalf was his halves partner. Shaun is a positive guy, he's not the guy to go into the media and shit on everything. We have to take that with a grain of salt and be happy that we have a guy in the media who wants to build us up. I don't listen to his pod anymore because it got too rah rah look at how good I am, but his analysis of footy is outstanding. I wish we had that on SKY, instead of the shit we get.

Devil's advocate, maybe that's not true this year? If Melbourne get a stack of injuries, or even just a couple to key spine guys (Hughes being No.1, Grant 2, Munster 3 in terms of importance) then it's wide open. Penrith aren't probably making the 8 (!!!!) and the Dogs, as impressive as they might be, are early in their journey. The Sharks are really disappointing right now, the Broncos are hot and cold, the Raiders look the goods but who knows with them etc.

Maybe the way we're grinding could get us there, and then a bit of luck goes your way.

On Six Tackles with Gus this week, Gus said he heard from a lot of people that we were the hardest team to play this year. He said we get up in their face, give teams no time and it forces them into errors and panic. Maybe that explains how the Sea Eagles, Roosters and Broncs played against us? That's able to be replicated most weeks. It's a bit of coaching, a lot of heart and the right guys.

Haha, the look how good I am but reminds me of last week, he was absolutely loving walking in front of the stands and waving to the crowd to get a big cheer from each section. Was actually in the right place at the right time last week and managed to meet him, was a very good guy

Yeah I never really go along with the “team a and team b are a mile ahead of the rest” chat after a month of footy, over many years watching, it has been very seldom that the 2 teams picked out early in the year actually go all the way

Key in these big games a lot of time comes down to a big play from a game breaking player, backed up by solid D. Warriors may have the D part covered, but creating something from nothing probably their Achilles heel

I love SJ but he cares SO MUCH about adulation, which we saw throughout his NRL career that he bristled at criticism but clearly read his own press way too much

yeah, injuries could always play a part... and so far this season has been pretty much full genius

Nobody has really shone this year yet, and Penrith have been awful - I wouldn't write them off yet, but their best players need to show something or they're done - will be interesting to see what happens Origin time tbh, not sure any of them warrant selection at the moment, probably Cleary, Yeo and Martin...

Cream usually rises, and I now reckon we're a chance for the 8, but for example this week the Cowboys looks 50:50, then I look through the lineups and if they turn up it's hard to see how we win - but like the Dogs, we can grind, and that is important - and I have long bemoaned the lack of ability to grind from Warriors teams - so I don't see us ultimately getting close this year, but I am excited for the future tbh... hopefully halves develop, the young kids and the new Pommie develop - and the next 2-3 years could be fun
