Elford is our best centre

Covell is a very capable winger - not the fastest or the flashiest but dependable and great in defence

I don't see the point of weakening one position just to move elford onto the wing to fill a perceieved weakness when we have covell performing well in PL

I think the danger against manly is greater than a lot of people think - they have had two close losses and if they manage to put a full game together rather than just playing in patches they are more than capable of getting the win. I'd be happy with a strong defensive winger like covell
I havent read anyone predicting an easy win for us, and personally I'm quite worried bout this game.
Manly looked good the little I saw of the Parra game, they looked to me like theyd cause us problems.
At the start of the season I and I think most people were saying its a game we SHOULD win.....now I think its a game we can win.
Will not be easy by any stretch. Were coming off the bye....yet to get as much cohesion going as we'd like due to injuries....manly are slowly finding their feet I feel.....They should start favourites .

Lol that will be a beauty!! Assuming they both play! Cleal is on an extended bench and Gibbs hasnt been named yet. They've played once since than and at the first scrum Gibbs said 'sir I can't fit my head in this bloke's jaw is too big!' hahaa

18-16. Magpies over Parramatta. 16-0 at half time with the Eels infront, then the Magpie never say die spirit kicked in and the rest his history, as was Cleal's jaw  I'd say it will be feeling awfully numb when he see's Gibbs's on sunday.

I think we could have done better

but not an aweful team

I've been happy with fitzy/robbie at hooker but I'm not a big fan of mears either - maybe I'm biased

still think we would have been better off keeping that and putting covell on the wing

I'm assuming that Patto will make way for Jeff - which is good

still don't think galea is near fit enough for a FG spot but if it means that Balmain get Dene and Bronson I could be convinced ;-)

Great to see Mearso back at hooker! And its a pleasure to see Prince in the No. 6 jersey. He played his best football at 5/8th in the year's gone by, and really has lacked sprak, probably due too much pressure. Seems to have been trying to hard to lead and direct the team around the field. Reynolds at half i think will be a good move. Gives him the opportunity to organise things, which will take a tonne of pressure off Prince, who i believe will play a much more natural game of football, and provide the backs with quality ball all day hopefully. Fitzhenry on the wing, not a bad idea. He's got the pace to perform well there, hopefully prince and wilson will put him through a few gaps down the blind side.

I didn't notice that prince and reynolds had swapped - great move, now each is playing in their natural position we should see an improvement

You would have to think that Reynolds looks to be a natural half and Prince a 5/8.I think this is a good move.Prince should relish the extra space...and Reynolds looks a good organiser.

Game on......

1. Brett Hodgson
2. Jason Moodie
3. John Wilson
4. Shane Elford

Why Wilson?

5. Daniel Fitzhenry

Fitzhenry on the WING? Seriously, what is Sheen's obsession with this bloke? He'll be playing him at prop next. Covell shoudlve got a spot - a goalkicker at 80% will win us many tight matches!

6. Scott Prince
7. Ben Reynolds

Hey Snide buddy, where are you? I predicted this two weeks ago and was told by yours truly that I 'lacked footballing knowledge' - or some other garbage. I have said from day one Prince is not quick or dynamic enough to be at first receiver. I dont know if Reynolds is the answer at no 7 but its obvious that Sheens thinks the same way!

8. Bryce Gibbs

Excellent - no useless Paterson.

9. Robbie Mears
10. John Skandalis
11. Nick Graham
12. Mark O'Neill
13. Scott Sattler (c)

Solid, but nothing special. I'm no longer a fan of Mark O'Neill. He runs sideways nearly all the time. We need some IMPACT in the second row.

------------------------
14. Robbie Farah

This kid should be getting as much game time as possible.

15. Chris Paterson

Bugger - spoke too soon. Can't everyone here just decide to talk him up as a star player of the future? Then the Roosters will try to buy him whilst still managing to stay under their 'salary cap'.

16. Ben Galea
17. Anthony Laffranchi
------------------------

Galea has looked pedestrian so far. I hope Laffranchi is fit enough.

18. Dene Halatau
19. Jeff Lima
------------------------

Dene has been excellent off the bench for us - hits the line straight and hard. Haven't seem Lima - what's his background?

Jeff has been with Balmain for the last couple of years and is a talent and a half.

A penrith junior he's an old-style prop - hits the line HARD has good pace although he's no ball player.

He's improved out of site this year and seems to have spent a lot of time working on his handling which had been a real problem to him, he also looks like he's worked on controlling his agression so he's not going on report every game lol. he's only 21 so still got a lot of improving yet to go but he's looking good. Not the biggest player in the world (at least height wise) but he's well built and very intimidating - if he can transfer the same level of impact (or even close to it) into first grade he'll be exactly what we need.

I really hope he gets picked......I still have reservations about him.Not his aggression, just his ability to stay switched on for the whole game, and his hands.

In the past both have let him down.I know this year he has improved, but Im still a little skeptical.....
