The Storm need to release enough players so they get under the cap, but what people might be forgetting is they also need to replace those players with other players to make up their 25 man playing roster. Given that the minimum contract in the NRL is $55,000, they're probably going to have to release closer to $1 million worth of talent, depending on which players they want to keep. They can either cut two of their marquees and replace them with a couple of juniors, or they can cull a whole heap of lesser players and replace them with juniors. I reckon they'll probably take the first option, culling one or two of their marquees so they can keep the majority of their playing roster intact.
