Running in shit weather is good fun

No doubt about that.

There's something very primal about running in the rubbish weather of Victoria. As if it is you against nature.

I love running outside in any conditions, and I don't understand the boredom factor that some attest to.

You gotta find interesting varied terrain. For example if I ran between where I live and wollongong harbour i'd be pretty bored, it's largely flat and boring. Running north, on the other hand, is varied, full of hills of varying difficulty, scenic surrounds, can cut into bush at certain parts/back roads, and get a decent run from 9-20+km. Love it

Charging down the hills from Scarborough to Austinmer when it is pissing down is awesome

Speaking of going for runs after dark, one of my mates was in NY and went for a stroll at night, for exercise and to explore the city, this bloke is a 6'2, 105kg Islander covered in tats, he told me he got mugged by 3 young African American kids who took his money, his watch and his brand new sneakers

you would think that his tattoos would have scared them off

I ride to and from work

I've been doing a lot of trail work lately. Loads of fun, except when you end up running in a gay beat and interrupt a couple of blokes having butt sex.

Just did a few sessions of hill sprints. Nearly had a hurl.

Toohey Forest, around Griffith Uni. I told my mum about the gay guys just for a laugh. She reckons they were probably birdwatching and that I shouldn't be so crude.

Not sure about that. I'm pretty sure you don't do that buried up to your nuts in another man's colon.

I wear a HRM , I find I burn the most doing the cross trainer.

The treadmill isnt too far behind though.

I have a spin bike ( the punisher ) I absolutely hate it. it hurts.

I dunno...

I'd hazard a guess that the Venn diagram of men who bird watch and men who like to be balls deep in other men the circles would pretty much sit right on top of each other.

footy training....

but do a bit of boxercise (that shit is crazy, have some guy whos like 50 who does all the footy/afl/soccer teams out of south cronulla surf club).

If I'm running on the treadmill its 1 min sprint (18kmh, fast as it goes) then 2 min recovery on 6kmh, do that 8 or so times, pretty decent work out.

I know the bloke, used to own the gym there. Now he leases it. Coached my Dad with Newtown U23's before his knee packed it in after surgery. Good guy, will make you fit as f**k if you ask him. You will see so much of the sand hill at Kurnell you will think you are Lawrence of Arabia...
