What do Australia need to change after this loss?

i went off 3 week early anyway lol...can't put the cork back in the bottle son....lol

At least we've got something to work with for a few days :D There were less Kiwis (5) in that WC final 17 than Australians (8) yet I can only hear one side moaning.

If we knock them out next week this forum section may get shut down :D. Isn't that what happens on Mad Monday lol? The rest of the RL world ceases to exist.

They need to come up with a way to reverse age their decent players who are sitting on the sidelines.

Australia were massively undermanned, but I still thought we'd win to be honest, and the team was looking alright until half-time. Then it became clear that both GI and DCE were gone... Now, the injury toll is pretty ridiculous as it is, but losing both DCE and Inglis before HT was the coup de grace. Walker was way out of his depth, but I don't get why they didn't move Tupou to FB instead - he's so much more suited to that position. I also don't get why we don't have a single recognised prop and how Boyd Cordiner wasn't named in that team.

There really were some odd selections, and I dare say that there was a better 3rd string side available than the one put on the park.

Getting rid of Daniel Tupou for a start.

He's got to be one of the most overrated footballers I've ever seen.

Agreed. I'm a Roosters fan, but I honestly reckon it's absolutely bizarre he starts ahead of McDonald, who has been better every time he's had to step in for Tupou. He'd have been better as a back up FB than Walker was, but he's a space cadet and is capable of becoming invisible.

Ideally we need to select a whole new squad that is better balanced but that can't happen. Klemmer has to start with Woods because we dont have any other front rowers, Farah should be dropped because he can only provide cover for one position where we have an 80 minute player and captain, Hunt will have to come in for DCE and will be better defensively.

My side vs England would be

Inglis
Tupou
Jennings
Walker
Mansour
Hunt
Cronk
Woods
Smith
Klemmer
Scott
Bird
Parker

Jackson
Thaiday
Cordner
Hoffman

It's a horrible bench that is way too small but we don't have any choice. At least Jackson can cover most gaps in the team if there is an injury but still contribute effectively just as a back rower. Graham, Gurgess and Turgess are going to dominate in the middle though which will probably see Sam Plodkins have a field day.

Walker, Tupou and Hoffman should all go - all three were useless on Saturday. I wasn't too impressed with Bird either, he seemed to just give away penalties.

If I were picking the team I'd go with:

Inglis
Moylan (if Inglis gets another virus he'll slot in much better at FB)
Jennings
Chambers
Mansour
Pearce (sorry, but better form than Hunt this year)
Cronk
Woods
Smith
Watmough
Scott
Bird (still need him for mongrel, but I don't know about him to be honest)
Parker

Jackson
Thaiday
Cordner
Mason (still knows how to hurt people)

I think the DCE injury is a blessing, He has had a pretty ordinary season and i think most can agree Hunt has had a very good one.
This now forces Sheens to throw him in and not go for the safe option as DCE probably was.

Hunt has the form, DCE was picked on reputation.

Given who Sheens picked. Parker and Thaiday need to start. Woods and Klemmer off the bench atleast we may have some sort of impact atleast

Problem is we don't have Mason, Pearce or Chambers in the 24 man squad so they can't be used. We are hamstrung by some of the most stupid selections I have ever seen. If we had Tolman, McGuire and one other prop instead of so many back rowers we wouldn't be in this situation.
