Well neither do i. But Bennett likes to have combinations like that and the De Vere Tate combination. Thats what he did in Origin with the Sing Hannay combo .

As much as there no doubt better individual centres and wingers going around, I think it is important to pick ready made combinations for one off rep sides. As they would only get a few runs together as a squad, why wouldn't a coach and selectors go for combinations that have worked well in the past??
