I could agree with Webcke tbh. He was very good, not convinced he was the stand out of his generation though (Preferred Petero Civoniceva, Steve Price).

What about Gallen or Lockyer at either lock defence, lock attack, prop attack, prop defence, 5/8 defence, 5/8 attack, fullback defence, fullback attack or game time or years at the top or bringing the game into disrepute with crude words?

A quick thought on Joey. Top player, but much like Smith, Slater, Thurston, regularly lampooned wth the GOAT tag (seriously, if they're GOATs surely that status isn't interchangeable to each generation?.). Top player, but why did NSW and I believe Austealia have to "fit him in" at hooker if he was the lay down Sally greatest halfback of all time? It's probably more a selection criticism because he was a sensational talent.

The stuff about Joey being the GOAT is rather annoying. Fans and players say it as though it's matter-of-fact. I don't think it's right. In my mind Joey definitely belongs on the very top echelon with a number of other players. I'm not convinced he was on his own a level above them.

RE Pearce: The phenomenon of club players not being effective at rep level is interesting to me. It's hard to imagine why it is. It's a bit like those junior stars who come through that, for whatever reason, don't make the leap to NRL.

Yet was Player of the tournament in the 95 world Cup, in a team that actually wasn't expected to win (due to the ban of super league players) at a very young page

Yeah I can't imagine any player before or since that could have played that role so well.

Cameron Smith would be the only one who could come close who sometimes plays first receiver and tackle in the middle third when players are missing.

Joey deserves the extra kudos he gets because of his presence and his defense

Clyde was a legend and worked very hard.
Stuart, if you asked anyone that played with him they will tell you what a great he is.
Webke, superb player a workhorse, if it was not for players like him, Tallis would have been found out for the lazy dog he was.

Meninga, def overrated. He could play but lost me when he didn't have the balls to move in the forwards.
