Can someone please tell me why we didnt invest a little bit more money into redfern oval and make it our home ground? Why.. why do we have to share a stadium with 2 other teams when we have been around for ever?.. All they had to do was make it a 25000 capacity stadium...

Souths wanted desperately to go back there but the council or more specifically, Clover Moore wouldn't allow us to build anything bigger than what we have there now. Something about not enough parking and infrastructure in the local area to accomodate 20 - 30k people on game days.

Now, the bigger question is, have you been living under a rock? This whole thing was run and won almost half a dozen years ago. The new Redfern Oval has been built from the ground up FFS, and that took quite a few years. Have you been mulling over this question for all that time or have you been in a coma?

I can't see why Rusty & PHAC can't get into Keneally's ear before she gets the flick next year and get the go ahead & grant from the Gov't to build grandstands around the ground like they have done at WIN.I think this is quite possible

Have you been to Redfern recently. Where would people park for one thing?

Around the streets & up the lanes like we use to do years ago and it's only 5min walk from the station anyhow.Lets get back to Redfern where we belong.

Because it has nothing to do with the State Govt.

It's all to do with the council and as long as the dope in the Dog collar calls the shots, we have no hope.

The Gov't can over rule the council at any time if the council will not take notice of what the Govt wants the Govt can appoint an administrator it has been done to many councils I suggest they appoint Sugar with Fein or you assistant administrator & then it will be done

u dont need places to park look at skilled park they have no where for people to park

Its not us that need the convincing. Its one Ms Clover Moore who pulled the strings on that one.

TBH I reckon you'd find it easier getting a 20k crowd in and out of Redfern oval then you do the SFS. There is less parking around Redfern oval, but the proximity of Redfern station makes life so much easier. The SFS has plenty of parking but, driving is basically your only way of getting there and their is only really one way in and out of the Moore Park area.

Anyone coming from out west to Redfern would be mad not to catch the train whereas you don't have that option at the SFS.

time has passed redfern by .Anyone who has been to redfern could not seriously consider it to become a larger capacity ground. The area there is not just big enough. Also taking into account people live within touching distance of the ground.

Pity 20 years ago we where not bidding for the soccer world cup the funds would have been there and adjoining property could have been purchased to allow the larger capacity

mmmm.. as for living under a rock, i have been asking people for ages and they just agreed that its stupid and didnt know why, but i never ran into someone who actually knew the politics of it all. Yeh i knew it was bloody council, driving to the game is stupid anyway, you got the train, bus, they could set set up a couple of temporary bus routes for game day, people from north, south and west could get the train quite easily and the train station is even closer than ANZ in comparison. Busses could come through the eastern suburbs. Im sure there is some one with half a brain out there that could work out a good system.
As for space, I think they have plenty of it, the grass hill on one side is fine, as long as there is seating for 10-15 thousand on the other sides, your laughing...

why does everyone belive this? Its a 20 min walk from central, and there are busses that leave from central to the SFS every few mins. And from the Eastern Suburbs there are countless busses that go up Anzac Pde right past the SFS. I wouldn't drive there if you paid me.

Either way, the SFS is not the point. 2 teams sharing a home ground is too much and 3 is just rediculous... clubs should remain where they originate. Who spends big $$$ on a Rugby League ground that you cant even fu*ken play on? The extra seating + Public transport facility's would have cost fu*k all in comparison to the rest of the job...

and what about the 10 year deal with ANZ?? and what about the 6 million doller dressing rooms that stadium specifically constructed to sweeten the deal??..

it won't happen.

Correct.

The majority of our fans prefer ANZ, this has been proven time and time again.

I loved Redfern back in the 70's but even in the early 80's it was showing signs of distress.

Kogarah Oval is a suburban ground Appin, and it's precincts are far more spacious than Redfern which has allowed them to expand that ground at enormous cost but a relatively minor increase in capacity.

And to the opening poster, stay under that rock.

it should given back to the first inhabitants as they are the tradional onwners of the land- i bet you didnt know real estate agents were around 40 thousand years ago.

Seriously money - how much would it cost and who would chip in??- taxpayers would not been keen to do so??- the government would argue that there is the SFS and of course homebush which can be used as home grounds- if Australia gets the football worldcup there maybe an opportunity then to upgrade the ground possibly but one would then feel if it was upgraded it would be on the basis of it being used as a training ground for one of the countries- belmore i read is being considered for an upgrade too maybe also for the WCF bid
