The butterfly effect have had a big following over the years. Are touring again in a month with a new singer.

Parkway drive are pretty popular, probably have more international fans than Australian.

A good up and comer is Northlane.

If you liked sunk loto, check out Electric Horse, same singer and guitarist from Sunk loto doin a fair bit of touring

Aussie music has never been better, maybe you are just getting old and aren't with it any more

This isnt a problem in the Metal Scene, there are a stack of really good local bands out there. Like others have said you just have to go look for it, you wont find it anywhere on mainstream media.

Just download some Aussie Crawl, Sunnyboys & Hoodoo Gurus and realise just how good local music used to be. Add some Radiators as well for very local and very raw. Frenzal Rhomb seem to fit this list very well as well. Then there is always Silverchair.

Every time you see a new local band described as either hard or punk just remember that this means that they cant't play.

Forget all the labels. What you need is good.

Yeah, but that's probably got more to do with the fact punk and hard rock blow harder than Justin Bieber backstage at an Usher concert tbh.

Mate, you should come down from the Satellite City and check out Jamgrass at Thornbury Theatre on the weekend of the 11th to the 13th. Massive alt country and bluegrass and jam bands night. Epic!
