What I dont like about our game.

I think the changes to the rules introduced this season have addressed some issues. I believe that the game should continue to evolve as negative aspects are developed by coaches. To that end what is it that you would like to see addresses in our game? You may just have an issue or you may well have an issue perceived by you that you could offer a solution too.
For mine I really hate the current trend of "deliberately tapping back" the ball from an attacking bomb. I honestly believe the attacking team has a far greater advantage than the defending team in this instance. Manly in particular have developed this to a high degree. I would like to see teams forced to at least make an attempt to catch the ball. I dont have a ready made solution but its an issue which I believe is having a negative impact on the way our game is played.
Any other issues?

i think on the list of things that need be fixed with the game, tap backs fall somewhere in between the price for a hotdog, and pre-game entertainment

Not sure I see a big problem with this particular tactic. Now, I'd certainly rather see tries from running/passing moves in general, but I don't really get why it's a problem that this tactic advantages the attack over the defence? Why is it any worse than putting ugly grubber kicks into the in-goal area, which also greatly advantages the attacker?

i think the tap back is good, hayne does it nearly every game. against the bonkos he mis-timed and took out barba resulting in a penalty. but in other games i think we did get a try or two out of it. clever tactics considering the support around u from a kick chase. i think we should rename the game topball tapback.

i think the game could also be improved with the introduction of a wheel of destiny.

an old mate and i had this idea for one day cricket, where at the start of each over the umpires spin the wheel of destiny to impose certain conditions for that over. things included: tap and run, adding a stump, removing fielders, replacing fielders with those inflatable kfc fielders, batsmen blindfolded facing the ball with the bells in it, shortening the running crease, lengthening the bowling crease, multi-ball, changing the value of runs, tiger pits,.... and the list goes on.

a think a similar concept could be added to nrl in a pre-season tournament.

All right, then, I'll hark back to my old plan of having the fullback armed with a vicious dog that he can let loose once each half.....

Why wouldn't you tap the ball back, especially if you're not that close enough to the try-line to fall over and score. Otherwise if you catch it you'll just be tackled and it'd be a handover.

An option for the wheel would be to use one of those plastic footies you can buy at the service station, that dent when you kick them.

I reckon all conversions after a try should be like NFL. You go for a try or goal. Helps teams put back to back tries

Yeh, but in the NFL they just get 2 points for the conversion rather than 1 point if successful in scoring what would normally be a touchdown....they don't get a 6 point conversion.

Perhaps we could run a 3pt conversion, would be attractive partic. if the try was scored wide out anyway.
