What is wrong with the Lang Park surface?

It's chopped up every time I see it. I've seen some talk they've lifted the annual event limit and Ed Sheeran, Motocross etc wouldn't help but it's a bad look for one of our best stadiums.

Anyone?
It was very dusty.

Should have seen it for the 1973 grand final between Valleys and Redcliffe. Dust bowl city.

I suspect it's as simple as too many events which shouldn't occur on grass being booked there. If you put on a concert where thousands of people are standing on it then it'll need to be re-turfed. If you put dirt bikes on it, it'll need to be re-turfed. Then you lay down new turf, don't give it enough time to grow roots or whatever, play games on it every week and it just keeps tearing up.

It's been a shit surface all year and I'm really surprised we haven't seen more injuries on it. By the end of magic round I think there'll be a few serious injuries.

Why in the name of f**k are concerts being played at stadiums anyway? Go put them on at a golf course if you want it outdoors

When is this magic round up for renewal and should it continue?
if it can bring in $15-20mill in hosting rights absolutely it should! Id love to see it in Perth split between HBF park (Fri night) and Optus Sat&Sun. WA's AFL clubs wouldn't like that lol

Suncorp’s surface has been shit ever since they built the place.

when you build a roof over all the seats you sacrifice sunlight and the turf never seems established as a result. Every game played there looks like the tee box after a couple bucks parties have been through it.

a lot of similar stadiums get around the lack of direct light on the turf with grow lights etc but I suspect there must be some inherent problems with the drainage set up that means they are just forever chasing their tails trying to get it sorted

Melbourne looked like soccer field. Lang Park is terrible.

Robina looks and plays picture perfect.

Wear and tear, the wife would say "it's from all the hock chooies"

Probably to do with grass length as well. Soccer needs a short hard pitch so ball rolls properly. RL only pitches can be left to be more lush and have stronger roots accordingly.

Brisbane really needs like a 20-25k seat rectangular venue to ease the pressure off Suncorp

Is there still a lot of abandoned shit around Bowen Hills?

It's going to be OK. Every player will be issued with a sand bucket to repair their divots.
That gives me an idea for retro round, get the kids coming back on with sand buckets instead of kicking tees. Would bringing back the magic sponge be a step too far?
