Once again a Newcastle supporter claiming players who aren't from Newcastle as juniors. Newcastle is a city in its own right. Places like Cessnock, Kurri and Charlestown is not Newcastle. If the Knights want to claim blokes like Johns as a junior then they should call themselves Hunter. It's like Brisbane claiming blokes from Ipswich and Toowoomba as local juniors. It just isn't true.

Why shouldn't juniors from areas such as Cessnock, Kurri etc be included as Newcastle juniors, after all these teams take part in the Newcastle district competition. :roll:

Cheers McSharkie - I've got a lot fo the info from various sources such as:
* reading player profiles on club sites. Some websites are more detailed than others. The Melbourne Storm is the best in RL for player profiles because they provide a full RL history on the player.
* reading bios in RL magazines like Big League and RL Week,
* looking at stories in the Tele and other papers,
* trading cards used to provide info (many moons ago),
* the Encyclopaedia of RL players
* people's comments on websites like this.

IIRC Paul Rauhihi played his junior RL in Porirua, Wellington, North Island, NZ before joining the NZ Navy, then Auckland Warriors, then Melbourne/Brisbane Norths, then Newcastle, then Bulldogs, then Cowboys.

Roosters Cogburn, Lomu's player profile on the Roosters website lists him as being born in Sydney. I have seen before that he played junior footy in somewhere like Kensington. Where do you think he played his junior football?

About the Knights, come off it, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley are both the domain of the Knights, so they can call players from those areas juniors.

Redcliffe, Ipswich and Burleigh play in the Brisbane RL but are not considred as Bronco junior clubs???
