What's the one thing that makes you feel like your getting old, and what's the one thing that makes you feel like you're still a kid?

OLD:

Last week it was early in the morning and I decided to put on 'Borat'. I put the DVD in and as I turned the TV on 'Question Time' was on. I ended up watching that right till the end and not only could I understand 95% of what the pollies were talking about, I was actually agreeing with them on some things! When it finished I put 'Borat' on but only watched it for 15 minutes before I went to bed.

LIKE A KID:

The fact that I'm almost 22 and single while 18 and 19 y/olds are getting into serious relationships and all the issues that come with them, as well as the fact that people younger and younger than me are becoming sexually active.

LIKE A KID:

The fact that i cant walk into a pub these days without getting carded. I mean ffs, ive got a farkin beard and a semi-beergut...

OLD:

As a result of driving my (60yr old) bosses Toyota Aurion, I'm finding myself strangely addicted to the talkback on 2GB.

LIKE A KID:

Being the youngest in my workplace.

I turn 20 in december:

Old:
I type on MSN using spelling and grammar to the best of my ability. This shouldn't make me feel old, but i'm pretty much the only one on my list my that really does it so it does.

Young:
I still laugh at "toilet humor"
My other immaturities and lack of real world knowledge
Still living at home

After having a goatee for a few weeks and then randomly shaving it off, I look much younger than with it on. It happens to everyone, I know - but it creeps me out.

Yeah. Nothing to do with the price of Jackarandas.

Actually, I do that as well. Particularly when I'm working the closing shift, often until 2 or 3 AM. I just listen to talkback radio. It can be really, really interesting.

I'm 22 years 4 months and 25 days old

OLD

Getting engaged...I always had a bit of a complex that I was very young for my age (I probably look about 18/19 and often get mistake for around that age, I still live at home and I don't have a great deal of life experience). All of a sudden, as soon as I made this commitment to "real life", I started subconsciously looking down my nose at even people my own age or older as little kids....all of their pithy relationship dramas, or their social lives, going out to town and partying and trying to hook up etc. It gave me a gigantic superiority complex tbh.

YOUNG

Being around old people- this is obvious, but particularly applicable to me as I spend a bit of time with my Grandad fishing, playing golf etc, and with my Dad playing golf, or like when I recently went to Thailand with my uncle- in all of these situations I tend to get treated like a kid, and my Uncle/Dad/Grandad's friends usually assume I'm a lot younger than I am

Also just meeting new people generally- Like I say, over time I've become used to looking younger than I am, and expected people to think it. I'm sure how old you look actually has a pretty profound psychological effect on your life.....

Work works both ways- sometimes I feel quite old when I'm acting all professional, and because I'm on a level or higher footing with people much older than me.....sometimes I feel young as I'm one of the youngest there.

Is it just me or does calling talkback radio have the same affect as saying "i'm a big fat douchebag"?

Ohh I get that; typically don't shave between shifts at work, which could be up to three weeks or so. Shave that morning, and if I catch a glimpse in the rear view mirror when driving to work I feel like I'm a 15 yr old heading to my first ever shift at McDonalds. Granted, a month of me not shaving tends to look like anyone else's 5 o'clock shadow (c'mon puberty :fist:) but it makes the difference.

OLD - Going about my business in the lab while work experience kids get led around by their supervisors. Ah, and driving past the old school, and being able to pick which student belongs to what clique.

YOUNG - Looking at the resumes of the academics at uni... so many PhDs awarded before I was born...

A couple of things make me feel old....I no longer get ID'd at clubs and pubs, the fact that at 22 I'm the oldest person in several of my classes...I;m sure there are others but meh

I'm 22, yet have an inability to grow anything resembling a decent beard. I can get a little goatie going but nothing like chops down the sides of my mouth...
