WTF does marvelized mean?

Since Disney acquired the rights they've made two good Predator films after two crap ones under Fox ...
A Predator movie shouldn't have quips and cute sidekicks and an emotional arc for the predator. Clearly is doesn't bother you though so nevermind.

F**k that is a weird take. Since you seem to abhor Disney so much then why go see it? Especially if it's not the style of Predator you want to see.

I don’t think it’s a long bow to draw to say you know how a Disney movie/show is going to turn out these days. We have it but it’s pretty much for this kids who love Moana, Frozen etc, I doubt I’d have it otherwise. X Files would be what I’ve mainly watched in it. Murders in the Building is pretty good. I liked Prey, it was cliche you know that going in. Superhero movies aren’t my thing, can’t remember the last one I watched, probably the Deadpool/Wolverine one which was the worst movie I’ve seen in years.

Disney skewing more towards kids is inarguable, but not relevant to this discussion really. Mongoose just doesn't like the direction that Predator has gone in and is laying it as Disney's feet despite the fact that Prey was in development pre Disney days and this movie is a continuation of that direction (and they're both much better than the previous two Predators, sadly even the Shane Black one).

Disney+ is a pretty average 'adult' streamer, I had 3 months at 4.99 a month so burn't through pretty much everything I wanted to see on it (e.g. Shogun, Say Nothing, Justified Primevil etc). I got bored with Murders in the Building in S3 or S4. The last month I was mostly watching old shows.

is shogun good? I might give it a go next

MITB is a decent thing to have on if you want an easy night scrolling the phone and half paying attention. I haven’t watched past season 3 but not cause I didn’t like it, just watched other things.

Yeah, I enjoyed Shogun, the NZ-Japanese actress is great, the English dude is a bit wooden to me but some people like him, and it has good set design etc. I'd recommend Say Nothing if you want a tough drama, it's set during the Troubles in Ireland.

I really liked the first two seasons of MITB, I think it was just too much of the same thing in a row for me with the season I got bored with.

hadn’t heard of say nothing but looked it up and looks alright. Anything set in Ireland/Scotland usually gets a run from me.

Shogun is outstanding. One of the best shows of the last few years.
I really liked the show, but:

So much of what is good about it is down to the character and performance of Anna Sawai, and I think the show going forward is really going to feel her absence.

Yeah no real disagreement there. Doesn't need another season really anyway. But its hard not to cash in when the first one is so well received.

Anyway I'll stop derailing.

Eddington. 7. Had the basis of a good movie but didnt land for me.

Set during Covid so can see it will trigger a few people.

Good acting though Emma Stone was way under utilised.

Threads (1984). A movie that stays with you for weeks after. An immersive and chilling nuclear apocalypse film.

Want to see this but didnt think it was available anywhere.

Youtube, free.

No-one does bleak dystopias like the English, 1984, Children Of Men, 28 Days Later, Day of the Triffids and many others, all really unsettling and grim.

Memories Of Murder 2003 (Korea)
Bong Joon Ho (The Host, Parasite, Snowpiercer), directed and co-wrote this and jayzuz he must really hate Korean coppers because he portrays the main three cops in this as the most violent, inept and incredibly stupid people you can imagine, so much so that it borders on comedy at times and if it's meant to actually be a Black Comedy, then they don't come much darker. I really enjoyed it though because I like the main two actors and they put in a good showing here. Not to everyone's taste I'm sure but worth a look if you like a point of difference from Hollywood and mainstream flicks. 7.5.
