What Phrases and Words Make You See Red?

That reminds me of a former manager when I was working in the polymer industry.

"You'd better give that a good ten minutes...."

As opposed to a bad ten minutes?

On the topic of question, what about the 'can I ask a quick question'? I have been known to reply, 'you just did'.
What is a quick question anyway?? Is it asked really fast or has less words in it so it is short??

Former EPL manager Gordon Strachan, having watched one of his team get smashed and obviously pissed off was on his way to the dressing room at fulltime when approached by a reporter who asked

"can we have a quick word Gordon?"

He replied

"Velocity"... And kept on walking... LOL

Not so much a word that makes me see red, but one that confuses me-

Why is it that when somebody is referred to as becoming "emotional" it always means they break down in tears?

We are always expressing emotions, so more visibly than others. Aren't we also emotional when we're thrilled, angry, disgruntled, disgusted, humoured etc?

Only in Victoriania....

The Melboredom Cricket Ground used to be the MCG - now it's just the "G".

The Crown Casino is called the "Cas".

Not a word that makes me see red, more a word that makes me roll my eyes whenever I see it used- and a dead giveaway that the person using it probably isn't that bright...

I'm very glad it's not just me who does this!
I use it from time-to-time in everyday use, but will use it nearly every time one of those people who've set up a booth in the middle of a popular shopping centre approach me with that question. It's so much more enjoyable right there in a public place!

The best one was a few years ago and went like this...
Them: 'Hello there, sir. Can I ask you a quick question?'
Me: 'You just did.'
Them: 'No, that wasn't it.'
Me: 'Well, you shouldn't have wasted it then, should you?!' [Smile cheekily, and walk away]
She stopped walking after me, smiled defeated, and returned to her booth to pester the next sucker who made eye contact.

Near miss.

So was it close to being a miss?

If so, it must have been a hit. Dumbest two words put together in the history of the English language.

Same as "I almost missed that". In other words, you saw that.
