Weird, i got a pop-up for a weight loss website when i opened this thread. I kid u not!

Anyways, i really enjoyed the article as well. Hope to see Ryback add some more thoughts to it. I know that i adopt a few of the things in that article from time to time, and i must say, it works well

Hmmm..being a technically obese person (at 194 cm I’m supposed to weigh about 110 kgs and I’m, say 120
emembarrassed.gif
) I’ve had to lose a bit of weight and also get a bit fit after three kids you tend to slow down.

So I have gone back to morning swimming, about 1 km, and I suppose I hit the wall after 100 m…. I alternate each morning/day – swim or a situps and strech regime which has worked well until Chrissie…

But the key is less eating fats, increased exercise. I like the info from dasher about the need to keep going until you are burning fat.:) Damn, just can’t handle being hungry tho’…. Maggie

for once in many years i have found somehting that did not make me fat.
the 2002/2003 christmas new year break.

surprisingly when i went to the gym last night, i was 20grams heavier than my last visit 3 weeks before (prolly the water i had on theway there...) . The excessive drinking and eating for christmas seems to have had no ill effects, what a great time of year!!

cheers and good luck with you r weight and fitness challenges

Since Xmas eve, I started getting up a little earlier to do stretching exercises and have been swimming a leisurely 10-20 laps of atenmetre pool (not much but I'm adding to it every day) - after that I spend about 15 minutes in the Sauna.
...and then I do a few more laps.
I then eat a breakfast of fruit and fibre. (chopped Banannaon Wheat Bix is the easiest) with Soy milk and OJ.
To me its great way to start the day and in all it takes about less than a hour.
Initially, I was wandering around 'stoned' for the best part of the morning which was very pleasant but I seem to acclimatised to it now.

This was my regime years ago. To be honest, I somehow dropped out and forgot how to look after myself.

But since I've return to this simple habit I've noticed some good changes in a short period if time.

As Goz says, its a simple as eating right and exercising. imo this = petrol in the tank.

I lost weight when I was in hospital, but have put it back since coming out. I am not a lot overweight, about 215 pounds(98 kg) at 6'0", but when I was younger I weighed 185 (84kg). I would like to lose weight, but have trouble doing so.I am doing lighter exercise than I did before, but still 30-35 minutes on an exercise bike or other cardio machine. I think I eat healthy foods, but probably too much of them, and maybe too many carbos (breads and pasta, not sugars). I have heard a bit about a diet that calls for more protein, about equal protein and carbos. Does anyone here know more about that?
I know resisting the temptation to eat too much (ie second helpings) is likely the answer, but I wonder if a change in the content of my diet would also help.

Steve:
I reckon you eat can as much as you need as long as you're burning it off. Just go for it and after every heavy meal, be sure to engage in some fence building or moshpit diving... whatever takes your fancy.... just be sure to burn it off.:D

Moshing always does the trick ;)

Im on a diet of situps, weights and bike riding most days now. At six foot, i weight 74kg, so i guess im happy with it at the moment, wouldn't mind being 80-85kg though

Swimming and biking, eh? I'm in the middle of a snowy cold winter here, I'm jealous of your weather. MaybeI should take up cross-country skiing again, I haven't done it for years, but it's good exercise.

In 1999, my family and I joined a gym. This was prompted by the doctors who said that weight training would not help my son with his Myotonica Dystrophia. Doctors don't know everything. We signed him up for 2 years worth of personal training. As I was 135kg at the time, it seemed a good idea for me to join him.

We started on a body building course. The weight training came as a shock, but the diet I was put on was even a bigger shock. My food intake was increased to 6 meals a day and plenty of water. All fat, sugar and salt were out. Carbohydrates were only ingested before training and never for an evening meal.

I lost 30kg and have never felt better. It was all rather expensive, but well worth it.

Simply if you want to lose weight, excersise and a good diet is all you need.

Taken from the vast resources of the internet
This is probably NOT the best way to lose excess body weight:

Did you hear about the heavyset guy who had tried every diet in the world in an attempt to lose weight? He tried the Scarsdale diet, the Navy diet, Weight Watchers, and many more. None worked. One day, he was reading the Washington Post when he noticed a small ad which read:
Lose weight immediately -Only $1.00 a pound Call 555 555-5555 The man decided to give it a try and called the number. A voice on the other end asked, 'How much weight do you want to lose?', to which the man responded, 'Ten pounds.' The voice replied, 'Very well, give me your credit card number and we'll have a representative over to your house in the morning.' About 9:00 am the next morning the man gets a knock on the door. There stood a beautiful redheaded woman, completely naked except for a sign around her neck stating, 'If you catch me, you can have me'.
Well, the hefty fellow chased her upstairs, downstairs, over sofas, through the kitchen, all around the house. Finally, panting and wheezing like a dog, he did catch her. When he was through enjoying himself, she said, 'Quick, go into the bathroom and weigh yourself!'. He did just that and was amazed to find that he had lost ten pounds, right to the ounce! That evening he called the number again. The voice on the other end asked, 'How much weight do you want to lose?', to which the somewhat less overweight man replied, 'Twenty pounds.' 'Very well', the voice on the phone told him, 'Give me your credit card number and we'll have a representative over to your house in the morning.' At about 8:00 am the next morning the man receives a knock on the door. When he opens the door he sees a beautiful blond dressed only in track shoes and a sign around her neck stating 'If you catch me, you can have me'. The chase took a good while longer this time and the man nearly passed out, but he finally did catch her. When he was through she told him, 'Quick, run into the bathroom and weigh yourself!' He ran to the bathroom and found he had lost another 20 pounds! 'This is fantastic!', he thought to himself. Later that evening he called the number again and the voice at the other end asked, 'How much weight do you want to lose?'. 'Fifty pounds!', the man exclaimed. 'Fifty pounds?', the voice asked. 'That's an awful lot of weight to lose at one time.' The man replied, 'Listen buddy, here's my credit card number, you just have your representative over here in the morning!', and he hung up the phone. About 6:00 am the next morning the man gets out of bed, splashes on some cologne and gets all ready for the next representative. At about 7:00 am he gets a knock on the door. When he opens the door, he sees this large gorilla with a sign around his neck stating,
'If I catch you, I'm going tof**k you!'
:D

Lol Resovoir Dog.
If anyone has figured out your BMI and it has told you that you're overweight, it's actually pretty irrelevant now. Muscle weighs more than fat, so it might try and tell you you're overweight when you're just strong. Just in case anyone didn't know.
