What to do ?

After listening to the game, I was expecting to see just Woods & Utai, putting in. After watching the game, I must say that I thought:
- Ayshford had a good game,
- Heighno played well, nah, should just say he tried but he just doesn't have the size,
- Fulton, and this comes back to the coach, why does he let him play the wide running role, when we have him in the middle with Bell, they look better defensively,
- Marshall, what a joke, even Sterlo made a comment regarding the look on Ayshford's face when he put one of his nothing kicks through.

Quote of the Day went something like this from Phil Gould, Benji Marshall has run about 2,000 metres today east/west and no much north/south.

Ryan is not a centre. Ayshford, if left at centre like last year, is good enough. Ryan stays on wing, koroibete on the other, utai can be on bench.

I totally disagree with this. Ayshford is a plodder and is looking slower. Ryan isn't quick but he is quicker than Ayshford.

Ayshford needs to go to lock or be bench backrower unless he turns his game around. Last year I thought he was great.

Ayshford wouldn't be in my FG team next year. Another player who has gone backwards/regressed.

You need your centres to be quick and dynamic and he is neither.

I would say he is deceptively quick and a smart footballer.

The difference in this season? He has Marshall running the show. Last season Lui gave great option balls, was calling forwards on line runs and taking the line on himself.

This year we have Benji throwing unders balls to light backrowers, running towards the sideline and throwing rubbish cutouts or flick passes at the kid who gets f**king belted

I see your point but Ayshford regularly misses half of the attempted tackles he makes. He is an inept defender.

He never used to.

When defending one in from centre with Ellis on one side and Lui on the other he coped very well.

Add this to the fact he should likely be on the sideline because of the damage to his wrist he has played with since Round 7 or so which will require surgery and the back spasms.

I am a fan of him and I would like to see what he can achieve with a proper structure and not having to rotate between three positions to accomodate a poor defence option, a smaller winger who the rotate into centre some sets and very little backrow support.

To sum up there are more than a few players who should be on the chopping block first

Regression , it a good word that describes the progress or should I say the lack of ,for a lot of supposedly talented players who have come up through our ranks . It seems all that talent hits a road block in the name of Sheens ,there are not too coaches that can regress a talented players progress like this massive head swell can

Poor benji could have been anything, now he just a mindless headless chook who has seen better days

Ayshford's form this year has been well down.

Coupled with the excessive amount of weight he had to put on in the off season according to coaching staff has really slowed him up.

But as mentioned above, he has clearly been playing injured, yet even a slower, out of form, injured Ayshford is a better option that a fit and healthy Reddy, and we have seen that all year.

I could handle a 2013 halves pairing of:
6 - Marshall
7 - Anasta

At least a lot of the kicking duties are taken from Benji. The last time that happened was 2004-2006.

Our squad in 2013 will be better imo that the squad for 2004-06 so we should be able to be a top 3 team next year.

It won't happen though.

this year is exactly like 2006. Should be pushing for a top 4 spot and be a serious title contender, instead we're outside the 8, shit form at the back end of the season and undeserving of a finals spot.

As I've said numerously before, Sheens is a great coach for the first 3-4 years of a club in turmoil. He cleans shit up, gets the image rectified, sets up and brings through great talent.

But after that, he turns to shit. His game plans don't change, he's rarely ever focussed on defensive structures, he's really only brought through juniors etc because of injury, doesn't drop poor performers, reshuffles key positions in the spine.

It's just simple, basic coaching matters that he is completely f**king up.

Players out of position who don't perform at their usual best (which is always a very big chance of happening) end up losing self confidence, falling out of form and struggle to get it back in short periods of time.

We've had some of our best performers in past years moved all over the place and its f**ked up team cohesion, set plays, defensive structures....everything!

Benji is a 6, leave him there at all costs
Robbie is a 9, leave him there at all costs
Moltzen is a half, make him play there solely
Lawrence and Ayshford are centres, never put them in the halves.
Fulton is a back rower, don't put him in the spine, ever.

It's a simple solution to a lot of our problems.

We keep the line up the same, with everyone in their favoured spot, give it a week and we'll start performing better very quickly.

But it just won't happen.

I hate to draw comparissons to AFL but Tim Sheens is a carbon copy of Calvin Shonky.

Good for younger players for a few years but after that goes batshit crazy and his style stale and innefective.

They both also have seem to be more interested in their legacy and chaging the way the game is played and try pointless experiments that always backfire and rarely, if ever, get called on it

My thoughts exactly MU.
The rot started after the very first rnd this year. It took only one injury to Tedesco a d the reshuffles began. We still had Brown on our books but he decided to throw the off season training in the shit bin and persist with Moltzen at 1 with a differant halfback ever since.

7 different halves pairings this year.

Sironen (6) & Marshall (7) - 5 games
Marshall (6) & Humble (7) - 4 games
Ayshford (6) & Marshall (7) - 3 games
Marshall (6) & Moltzen (7) - 3 games
Lawrence (6) & Marshall (7) - 2 games
Marshall (6) & Miller (7) - 1 game
Marshall (6) & Farah (7) - 1 game

At Five-Eighth (most games this year)
Marshall - 9
Sironen - 5
Ayshford - 3
Lawrence - 2

At Halfback (most games this year)
Marshall - 10
Humble - 4
Moltzen - 3
Miller - 1
Farah - 1

We've also had the following players hookers this year
Farah, Fulton, Humble, Iosefa, Politoni (as a benchie)

And the following have been at fullback:
Tedesco, Moltzen, Ryan, Humble.

Thats the most disorganised spine of any team this year.

8 if you count Marshall/Fulton,Sheens is an idiot and should be sacked right now,but that won't happen he has the run of the place and answers to no one.:x

It has to be noted in all his years at the tigers Sheens has had three winning streaks of about 8 weeks the rest of the time the team has under performed miserably. All teams go through a rough trot but the good teams tend to win three games a month. Look at the Storm, lost five on a trot but because they had points in the bank they are still holding on.

The old story if you cant beat em join em, we have to look at the Dogs and Manly and play their Physical style of football, do we have the troops???I doubt it.

and just one last thing, Anasta is the last thing we need, another organizer,we need young big fast legs with high workloads. We have enough players all ready on light duties!!!!!!

Sheens has lost the plot on most things these days - it's called amnesia and he should be confined immediately.

The ironic thing is that the importance of consistency in the spine was a concept that Sheens invented......

I think the 2 things that have killed us are Blair and the halves being swapped around way too much.

Yes injuries have had an effect but it didn't have to have that much of an effect.

Same old same old.

Coach must go.
Halfback must be bought.
Benji must play 6.
Desperate for outside backs with class and pace.

Give Blair 12 months under a new coach then prepared to sell at a loss.
