If the best of both squads are retained for next season Premiers side we'll go fine. The problem seems to be both sides have about half a team that puts it in and the other half just aren't cutting it. Good oppositions will always take full advantage. When the best of Flegg is mixed with the best in prems and with a coaching staff who after a full year (and off-season) together (not to mention learning from their own mistakes) we'll get back where we should be.
The call up from Flegg hasn't been as much as it should have in hindsight. At the start of the season I thought not calling on too many Flegg boys was going to be a bonus, but the older players we've brought in haven't done the business, with the exception of Kerr and Atkinson. We would have been better off calling on more of the younger guys to step up. I don't think we'll make the same mistake next year. One other big factor in the recent floggings is Covell. Plenty here bag the guy, but you don't know your backside from a hole in the ground. He adds so much to our side. He cleans up so many dangerous situations, gets in and does the dirty work when we need it, and generally inspires his team mates with his 100% attitude. We might have been losing with him in the side, but never anything like the last few weeks. We haven't looked anything like the same side without him.
