Oh well, as there's no longer anything else left to read, I'm out of here for the night .

Delete the posts that breach guidelines, infract the members, post a warning in the thread and lock it, but keep the remainder of the posts visible.

Basically, model how you want people to behave on the forums, and leave the guideline interpretations visible in the relevant locked threads, as a warning to others (rather than delete that from view and prevent the ongoing education of the forum community).

Takes time in the beginning, but if applied consistently then it will pay off. (Or the repeat offenders will soon rack up enough infractions to be banned if they don't adapt their posting style.)

:lol::lol:

to answer your question, it wasn't offensive but we dont normally tolerate people complaining about mods, their job is hard enough

its like players complaining about the ref, it isn't tolerated

I'm not suggesting the mods dont make mistakes, they are human like the refs, but we just dont allow it

if anyone would like to come up with a better suggestion I'm all ears

its a tough life working on the internet twizzle , my heart bleeds for you

I'm not getting in deeper here Bartman, but all due respect, you were a mod who resigned.

Like you say, it takes time in the beginning, but then takes even more time when new members join up, and taking too much time is why moderators give the job away.

Mate, that's a fairly vague explanation regarding what was a pretty innocuous thread? :?

Suity

I wouldn't expect a moderator to go into detail the of each problem with each post or member in a post deletion explanation.

I personally asked of we could play nice but my requests were ignored. Like I said in a previous post, I'd rather we let these 3P discussions take their course but some people let their emotions take over.

I understand there was problems in the deleted 3P thread and that's why it was deleted. But I really don't understand why the other one was locked. I really don't.

It was deleted because the topic of which you were discussing was deleted.
*Oh 3P, yeah 3P, always 3P*
*duuuuuuuuuuuh*
This song about 3P was deleted, because the thread was deleted, because the topic of which the deleted topic owner was deleted, was deleted.

*3P! 3P! Yeah baby.... 3P! Woo yeah....*
*duuuuuuuuuuh*
This quote about 3P, which was made due to the song about 3P being deleted, which was deleted because the thread that was deleted, which was made by the topic owner whose topic was deleted, who talked about the topic that was deleted, has been deleted.

*YABABABABABABBABABBABABABABABABA!!!!*
Good work.

That's understandable Twiz.
It's just concerning that a roll on of post deletions seems to happen when a certain moderator starts to take control.
It actually gets out of of control, and I think this is Maroubra's question.
It hasn't really been answered yet tbh.
The reason I ask is that the sooner all can understand why certain innocuous posts are deleted, the sooner we can learn not to post such stuff.

fair question, I thought it was explained properly but then again, I knew the answer before hand,

basically we take the nazi attitude with things like this, once a thread has been deleted that the end of it, people have been suspended for pushing the issue further in the open forum, we prefer to deal with it privatlely

all thread deletions have a brief explanation and if any further explanation is needed we ask it be done by PM or email as we dont want to turn the forums into a forum for people to argue with us about the rules and get other people to jump in a bitch about what their grievances are, otherwise we end up taking as much time as I have here to explain our actions

I started this around 7:30, an hour and a half ago. I dont mind explaining this to you guys as sometimes it can save time later, but you wont get a detailed explanation like this when a thread gets locked.
