What's going to happen at KoJo

Georges River Council is planning for the future of Kogarah Jubilee (KoJo). They have started an initial 'community consultation' prior to engaging consultants to write the draft plan (a plan of management).
This is your first chance to sensibly contribute to KoJo's future. There is a Council link that gives you until 25 January to make an early submission and/or do a survey.
Every good bit helps
Once written, the draft plan will then go to public exhibition after it has spent a few months with State Government (Crown Lands).
The final plan will be the basis for future uses, developments, management, leasing and licensing of KoJo and surrounding precinct.

In short, the plan should give St George Leagues Club first option to buy the ground with the sale money to be used to move the school to a more suitable site.
1. Rename the proposed ne ground 'Squadron Oval' after Twiggy areas to be part of the consortium formed to fund the project.
2. Lobby the State Government and the NRL pointing to the fact that this ground is conveniently located to the airport and main main highway and railway southern transport access.
3. Point out a design that includes an underground transport hub, and parking along with a design that includes a retractable roof. A boutique ground that can hold up to 40k spectators.
4. The potential to construct a hotel and restaurant complex so close to the airport.

That sounds great Possm but can't see it happening when there's only 1 tenant that plays 5 or 6 games a year there. I can't think of any other teams that could play there that would make it a viable proposition. The only teams would be Sydney FC but they have moved back to Allianz and are not coming back to Kogarah. Sharks aren't giving up Shark Park especially with their new club next door.

Such a stadium could be seen as an alternative to others that are a longer distance from the airport and a location where accommodation and entertainment are on site.

With a retractable roof and a mid-size crowd capacity, this crowd is an alternative not just for RL, RU, and Soccer, it could be a preferred ground for international events.

A bus and rail connection direct to the airport, city, and the Illawarra plus a bus terminal connecting the adjacent highway to the stadium, would make this facility the first choice of most international events in Australia.

A proposal such as this would require a big sponsor and keen support from the NRL and State Government. Twiggy Forest is the ideal sponsor with not only deep pockets but a dire to promote his new venture, Squadron Energy.

The availability of a retractable roof, and an all-weather stadium, would be very attractive to the NRL, and an income windfall for the NSW Government.

Our biggest problem is that this idea would require a very proactive Board of Management, something we currently lack at St George Illawarra.

KJO is on a very small land footprint so very difficult to get a decent stadium upgrade suitable for what people want / need in 2024.
Any rebuild to accomodate us professionally would most likely need to include purchase of Beverly Park golf course as there is little to no land nearby.

Possm, use the links and make the submission - minus the sale and school bullsh1t which is not possible and will not happen.
The rest of your post is as reasonable as most over the top suggestions, although the
hotel and transport hub is almost impossible under current NSW legislation and Court rulings.

Of course, the local school relocation would have to be part of the project and the demolition of the Taj. The complex would have to occupy every inch of above-ground area with the high rise being built on the highway side of the stadium. This building would accommodate the Leagues Club and hospitality venues as well as hotel accommodation. It may even accommodate a casino.

Architects will have to design a facility that is suitable and iconic.

Yes CC I also believe that won’t happen either but can’t see anyway forward for a redevelopment of KJO if it doesn’t
No chance they will get rid of the school either.
So KJO is destined to be a minor ground in the big scheme of things.
A far cry from when we all caught the train and walked down and back up the hill.

The golf course was originally going to be the football field. But a few house owners refused to sell. Back in 1950s or 40s. It stopped plan's for redevelopment of the golf course. Dragons had to change plans. The old club was next to the high school near Rocky point road intersection
