What's good on Netflix?

Yep, The Last Kingdom is amazing.

The pace of the story telling without sacrificing such wonderful character development is breathtaking. The cinematography, the score, the acting...

Just a f**king awesome show. One of my all-time favourites.

Operation Odessa 8. If you like interesting characters and reasonably out there stories this is entertaining.

A Netflix show based in Washington DC where every Democrat is an angel and Republican the Devil, oh yeah and the terrorises who blew up the capital were right wing terrorists who framed Muslims...WHOD HAVE GUESSED!?!?!

think I’ve seen this.. is it the Interview/Doco where the strip club owner goes back to Russia after the fall of the USSR and hits up the army for all sorts of stuff... ??

It’s brilliant. Highly recommend it, Hollywood couldn’t write a script for a story like this.

I've just started this after reading on here about it, 3 episodes in and I'm not sure.

I really liked the first episode and looked forward to a series with the boy growing up with the Danes ... but.

I'll keep watching, but it seems like a lower budget Vikings at the moment (or more accurately it seems like a S1 budget Vikings).

That show starts off good but it's one of those shows which has too many episodes in the series and fades.

Pretty sure after Netflix got involved they did up the budget quite a bit. It much better written and the acting is far superior to Vikings IMO.

That's the one.

Great characters

Yep absolutely. Loved this bloke especially, nothing like a sneaky Russian to really add spice to a story!

Top recommendation mate - and to everyone else who hasn't seen it - as Molly Meldrum would say "Do yourself a favour".

The conspiracy thing was interesting at first, however the politics aspect of it is a poor mans House of Cards. Then when it descended into a complete 'left saves the world, right destroys it' soapbox i tuned out

How good is the dude that plays King Alfred?

Seriously one of my favourite characters in a tv show of all time. So well acted.

That's not obvious in the first few episodes, the main guy seems like a B grade Travis Fimmel (I think that's the Vikings main guy) but the writing in the Ep2 especially was one of the main reasons I nearly checked out.

But as I said, early days, so I expect it will improve.

He was absolutely fantastic as Alfred, but his f**king wife i hated her so much. The beauty of this show is the amount of hatable merkins in it.

Utred is a great character, and i think the guy does a great job. i haven't seen those early episodes in a fair while but the whole show overall does improve.

I found it much better than Vikings as it gets going. The character development is much much better imo. In Vikings I found I was only really invested in three or four characters at a time, (either love or hate) In The Last Kingdom I found I gave a shit about most of them one way or another.

I agree on the comments re Alfred. He was fantastic. He does take a while to warm up though. The only character than really started to annoy me was Brida towards the end.

I downloaded Gangs of London on Pirate Bay. Brilliant show so far. Opening scene is like absolutely brutal.

You’d forgive that if they condensed some of it. But 21 episodes for season 1 and 22 for season 2. Worst stretching of a story I’ve seen in a while.
