What's in a name?

Some of the club grounds are better to play at and watch :

Rugby = LarkHill / Cottelsoe RU / Palmyra RU / Joondalup Arena / Ken Allen etc.

I haven't seen Cottesloe's ground , though I will agree that Palmyra's gound (and club rooms / club offices) are sensational. A very well run complex... though financially well supported by the community (a key factor).

Unfortunately, the Liberal government have scrapped any plans for high quality, international grade stadiums. They'll only budge if we win a Soccer World Cup bid. Regardless of your political alignments, it'd be great if we're able to re-enstate a Labor state government since they'll at least move to improve sporting grounds. (Of course, the elderly will kick up a fuss, but, who really cares?)

I suppose you're a graphic designer and marketing expert?

If not, are you really in a position to pass judgement on these designs?

So all art critics have to be artists? All movie critics must be directors? Give it a rest.

They're doing their job if you ask me. They all have meaning. They're all easily identifiable. So, what's the problem?

The black swan is the Force's logo, a representation of Western Australia (the Black Swan also being used in WA's state AFL side).

I agree that the WA Reds logo does look a little like a children's picture book - but overall - the logo works.

I just think you're being overly critical.

The problem is that they are either totally uninspiring (Force) or ugly 3rd world copies of NFL logos (Eagles) or just look sh*te (Glory, Wildcats).

The Force logo might have meaning to you after you know what it is but to the majority of people it's just a few black swirls on a dark blue background. Hardly representative or easily identifiable as being from WA. Even if you know what it is supposed to represent it still is completely bland and uninspiring.

The Reds logo immediately makes you think of WA because of the Red Kangaroo. It's simple, aggressive and easily identifiable; exactly what you want in a logo.

Touche.

In your opinion.

You've surveyed the "majority of people" to know this? .. Impressive.

It’s hardly a stretch to imagine that if you showed the Force logo to the general public 9/10 would not know the meaning behind it. The best sporting logo’s are simple, the Force looks like it’s a piece of corporate art.

I’d love to hear your reasoning.

i think most of the perth public would see it and relate it 2 a black swan which is symbolic 2 Perth

I ask the question, What's in a name?

I mean seriously, WA Reds. Why would they use that name when it's well known that the reds couldn't survive in Perth previously. No offence, but why couldn't they think of something less Aussie so it's more appealing to the stars of today and the future from AUS and NZ. I know they try to keep them specific to the location like the Storm or the Warriors but you can't tell me Parramatta a well known for their eels at the local markets. Could you have thought of a better, more appealing name.

NO, the reason the Parramatta Rugby League club is called the eels is because the word 'parramatta' means 'electric eel' in the local parramatta aboriginal tribes language.
