Club. I love Origin, but pales in signifcance to St George Illawarra.
Put it this way, what's more of an achievement - winning a competition between 16 teams over the period of 8 months, or a competition between 2 teams over 3 games?
Being a Kiwi, I really couldn't give a shit about SOO. The only concern I have whenever it rolls around is that no Dragons players involved in it get hurt.
My single biggest beef with SOO though is that so many people seem to regard it as the pinnacle of the game, detracting from Internationals.
Back in the 80's and early 90's, SOO was the pinnacle. I have been bored with it for a long time though, and get annoyed when people talk about it being the pinnacle, with no thought that internationals should rank above a regional comp.
Having much more time to invest, caring about club football comes pretty naturally.
Club football because it's a season long journey and it takes more to win. I would much rather see Easts win the premiership than NSW win SOO but at the same time I love SOO just in a different way.
I voted Club. SOO is good for bragging rights and a great specatacle every year, well it was before the extended NSW losing streak sucked a lot of the tension out of it, but the Grand Final is the one you want.
