By the way, isn't that roar at the start of None So Vile the most evil thing you've ever heard!!!

I just heard the song for the 1st time, It's absolutely nuts from start to finish \m/

If you like Heavy listen to "Blunt force trauma" by Dying Fetus.

A CC clone but better IMO, Intro is sick.

Yes well Cannibal Corpse are pretty dull. I'm a big fan of Nile, Immolation etc but I prefer melodic death - Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquility etc.

Do you listen to Children of Bodom ?, not my cup of tea - but a few mates like em.

I've got their last two albums. They've got some decent riffs but overall it's a bit corny for my liking and quite repetitive. Actually I haven't even listened to their latest even though it's been on my shelf for a few months. I've got a mate that does band relations for a few record companies and he gives me sh*tloads of free sh*t. I'm on the doorlist for Opeth in April thanks to him, have seen them twice before as well. He got me into Strapping Young Lad twice and I hung out with Devin Townsend backstage. I've also seen Pantera (and met Dimebag etc), In Flames, Soilwork, Megadeth - heaps of bands for free thanks to him. All good.

But back to Bodom - of that style I prefer early In Flames before they became crap.

Why do so many bands lose the plot?

I've got nothing on you guys. I like Opeth and Dark Tranquility and that's about as I've gone. Looks like I'll have to try and expand my horizons a little.

If you like Dark Tranquility try Amon Amarth (Fate of Norns) and early In Flames (Clayman, Colony and even Whoracle should appeal).

Also, you might like Amorphis and I will always recommend Devin Townsend - a genius. His new album Synchestra is his best since his debut album Ocean Machine.

Ahhh yes, I've seen them before.

I was actually watching some Immortal film clips the other night.

For such a great band, geez they look corny in those clips. Abbath was running around a forest with a witch's hat on his head, peering around corners - hilarious stuff.

Luckily in the metal world people listen to bands for the music, not because they have the best film clip on MTV.

Ah yes, Is thaT Call Of The Winter Moon?
Love the shots of Abbath running down hills and frosty forests and more god damn hills while looking like the 3rd member of the insane clown posee.

Ahhh yes, that's the one.

They have a few decent clips - Grim and Frostbitten Kingdoms for one - but other than that you've got to laugh.

I use to have a gif of Call Of The Wintermoon, it was alot better than my current Immortal gif.
My friends started a Darkthrone covers band called PanzerGrym, I particually enjoy the on stage banter & the strippers they played with.Nothing says grym like corpse paint & strippers. Maybe midgets in corpse paints but it was certainly Nekro.

That's Call Of The Wintermoon alright. I've got that clip on my PC and I give it a spin whenever I need a cheap laugh. It never fails.

How about most of the clip being shown in daylight because they couldn't afford any decent lighting?

I never did figure out what the deal with the giant Witches Hat was. The singer from Portal wears one as well.

Has anyone seen the first video that Hecate Enthroned did? It's supposed to be just as good/bad. If anyone can hook me up with it, I'd much appreciate it.

Nah. I did see Dimmu Borgir's Apogenies of the Great Apocalypse the other night. Probably the best metal clip I've seen in terms of visual effects etc. Then again, they're about as commercial as black metal is ever going to get (given that Cradle of Filth really aren't black metal).

Funnily enough CoF were definitely black metal once; their last two demo s("Orgiastic Pleasures Foul" and "Total f**king Darkness") are necro as f**k, although "Orgiastic.." is probably more Death Metal. But they got all camp and gothy pretty quick once they got signed.

Yeah, C.O.F's demos were very death metal. Dani even had a half-decent death growl on him.

"Principle Of Evil Made Flesh" could be described as symphonic black metal, though it's really more gothic/atmospheric metal masquerading as black metal.

Another "So bad it's good" video is "Lilith's Embrace" by Ancient. They were trying so hard to be sophisticated and atmospheric, but to put it nicely, they failed miserably

I'd say gothic metal is the best way to describe them.

Anyway, Dusk and Her Embrace was an excellent album. Since then they've been up and down. Midian was okay at best, Damnation and a Day had a few good tracks on it. Don't listen to them much these days though and I certainly would never play them to a non-metal fan - Dani's voice really is a love/hate thing.

NP: Amon Amarth - Fate of Norns
