the guy needs kidney treatment three times a week, and his much anticipated return into provincial rugby was an anti climax, while the passion still burns, i dont think he is physically capable of making a return to the level he once played at. I doubt hed come to league anyway, despite not play0ing for them anymore, he isstill the highest paid al black

We don't know what they offered him but it obviously wasn't much. Kingsly Jones can moan all he likes but the NZRU isn't stupid, theres no guarantee that Jonah will play again so they can't go throwing mega bucks down the drain in hope he may make a return.

If he manages to get through his health problems and make a return to the game he could make more than what he was on with the NZRU in England. Ideally he probably would've liked to have gone down that path at the end of this world cup but the kidney problem has probably robbed him of a nice little retirement package. Though I'm not going to feel sorry for the bloke missing out on that since he has been on the rich list.

Its a real shame this Kidney condition has ruined his career. The man was a phenomenon, I mean a guy who weighs 120kg, stands 6'5 and runs 100 metres in under 11 seconds is a once in a life time physical specimen.

He's damaged goods, has been for years. I can see things from the NZRU's point of view on this one, especially with Murdoch looking to reduce his outlay in sporting rights.
Its sad to see Jonah go out like this, but at least he's set himeslf up for the future, unlike Joeli Vidiri. I feel gutted for that guy.

Exactly, but so many people seem unable to understand this.

So true. I've lost count of how many people have slagged the guy off. They get fixated on his weaknesses, but cant see what a freak he was. He set up so many crucial tries doing things no other player could. Give it a few years & hopefully people will begin to put everything in context.
