I envy your eye, Old Son! I'm also glad not to have to face-off against you in a game of pictionary

Just last weekend I endured the mocking laughter of those who couldn't see the merit in my attempt to give shape to the concept 'Occult'!!! How could the buggers mistake my exquisite depiction of Satan for a cat in a hat??? Chhhriist!!! Its a good thing that I'm a dab hand at 'Master Detective'

Anyhow, I admire you your craft, keep up the good work...

kier: What sports teams does your school have? Are school sports taken seriously, or do the best athletes play on club teams?

The main school teams are;

Rugby Union (winter term)

Hockey (field hocky, spring term)

Cricket (summer term)

The school is VERY unusual in the fact that we do not run soccer sides (we don't even own a set of goals). For a private school this would be odd........for a state comprehensive it is practically unheard of!

The school has always though of itself as a "rugby (union)" school, but in reality we are far more of a hockey school - being the only state school to have ever contested a national schools hockey final.

Sport is taken very seriously, and teams have a reletively large travel budget to play meaningful fixtures - as very few school in our local area play RU or Hockey well (if at all).

It is difficult to say if the "best" players play for schools or clubs.....

The enthusiastic sportsmen do join local teams - but these do not number in any large amounts (eg, there are over 200 "active" RU players with the school teams registered with the RFU - but less than 20 play for RU teams outside of school).

Traditionally, one had to go via schools to play for counties/regions, but until recently RU and hockey were sewn up by local private schools.

The reality is that soccer is far more popular than any other sport by a country mile - there are more soccer players playing for weekend team in our year seven alone than all the sportsmen of other games in the entire school.

Sad but true!

Left school at 16 (year11) to work in the family business in Adelaide. Universal Metal Spinners. Did my aprentiship with dad. At the same time I approached Eugene White at Woodville Bowl to train me in the ways of Automatic Pinsetters for no pay.

Dad died in 83 and mum sold the business. 85 moved to QLD and started work at Clayfield Bowl. Milton Bowl followed after Clayfield closed it's doors. 88 I became a Brisbane City Council bus driver. Moved to Perth in 94 and worked at Mirrabooka Bowl and drove buses for a private company ferrying school kids to and from school. Pack of little shits.

97 Mirrabooka needed refurbishing, butno one with enough knowledge was available in WA. A guy from the eastern states, Peter Bell, was renowned for his lane resurfacing, but he wouldn't make the trip anymore. No longer financially viable to him. I took on the responsibility and my business sprung up from there.

To date Cragie Bowl, Mirrabooka Bowl, Morley Bowl were refurbished by me. Now currently doing Kelmscot Bowl. Possibly the worst center I've come across so far. This job will take at least 12 - 14 months provided parts arrive on time. I still help out in various centres throughout Perth and up in Geraldton.

Work in a timber recycling business with my father. We basically demolish old buildings/houses, salvage the native timber, process it and on sell it. Also have a furniture factory on site although I'm only involved in the timber side of the business. I'd say about 80% of our business is flooring with half going into extending old houses and half into new places. The rest is stuff like beams, weatherboards, furntiure timber and shopfitting items. We try and stay away from other demo stuff like old doors and that but we have a few.

Depends if you class saving the Human Race with the suffering of small animals a public service.

Not the nicest job but I figure things would be worst for the little furries if I wasn't there taking the best care of them I can.
