I swear if the players were on what everyone says they’re on we’d only have a 20 man squad, it’s all we could afford
You'll find the top half dozen in any squad are on more than merkins expect while the rest are generally on less.

The average (mean) salary (cap divided by 30) is about $300k but there would be less than ten merkins at every club earning that much.

Thanks brother. I cannot stand ill discipline. I’m all for giving a second chance but not 5 chances. I would have also sacked Terepo. How many chances has he had? I was also glad that we finally parted ways with Kenny Edwards.

If Hayne is found not guilty I’d give him a chance. He is still an Eels’ legend and I don’t want him to go down like this. He pissed me off when he didn’t return to us from the US but I thought he was one of our best last year.
FFS - Classic flip floppery .... f**k him .... we are moving forward without him ffs .... leave it - end of story

Jarryd Hayne is the most talented footballer I have seen, he had it all there was nothing he couldn’t do. He is also the greatest waste of talent and biggest disappointment. His attitude sucks and always has sucked. Do we really want him back with what we are building here with all these young blokes???

Think of it this way Avy...

Last year was the first time Hayne played for us since 2014, what else happened last year for the first time since 2014?

Are they related? Who knows, I do. They are. He can stay where he is thanks very much.

You are right though he is an Eels legend and it does suck that he going to go down like this, I 100% agree with you on that but I think his rugby league career is over, regardless of the results of his trial.

I might be having a mind blank here but what else happened last year for the first time since 2014?

Are you talking about the spoon? Because we didn’t win the spoon in 2014

Im not bothered either way if Hayne comes back or not (if not guilty on the sex charges)

I think if he does come back, he might have to go through some hoops with fitness and be on a wage of around 300-400k id imagine, and it will be a year to year proposition as he will be 32yo in February.

Getting him to that form he had at the back end of last year we would be crazy to not consider him.
He also may have a burning desire to win a competition with Parra, which would be a humble reason to come back, especially if not on a lot of coin.

Ill leave the decision if there is going to be one to Parra to make

Thanks for that, captain obvious.

But it’s still accurate, I probably could have worded it better, and I probably should have figured the nitpicks would be out in force.

But you got my meaning though.

I thought we have filled our 30 spots ? Hayne can’t come back anyway.

IIRC the planets would need to align this way; Hayne charges withdrawn, Kaysa medically retires or released both before end June.

Even then I agree with merkins ^^^^ above that he would need to be ripped fit and be prepared to play center only and shut the f**k up.

Then you have the problems that 2020 brings with the USA civil suit.

Not worth it IMO, brings too much dickheadness in his baggage.

He won the Dally M in 2014........i'm a little confused by what you actually meant?

We should move on from him and i would imagine that we very much have but whatever point you are trying to make is terribly confusing because he also played very well last year when he was on the field.

I reckon plenty of it is a bit of tall poppy syndrome and coincidence.

Surely he could do a better job for us at centre than Michael Jennings in 2020. I’d give him a 2 year deal if he is found not guilty @450k a year and I think he would take it.

Ok fine you f*#king babies...

Hayne left at the end of 2014, he returned in 201

I just can’t get behind that logic. Manning’s isn’t going to be an Eel (I think) in 2020 anyway. It would surprise me if he is, even though I think he gets a bad wrap.

But Hayne for 2 years? As Corey Norman would say, “Yeah, nah”

No, he could not.

What is with the fascination of MJ hate?

MJ is still a quality defender and brilliant in attack, him any day over Hayne. Simply for his defence.

The fact we are showing more in 3 rounds this year then we did in 25 last year with Hayne says enough for me.

I was okay for him returning last year, the guy just brings a media circus and bullshit that our young kids do not need, his attitude and his work ethic is the LAST thing we need right now.
