When to expand?

Why do they have to bring 2 in at a time?? The AFL a doing it right by bringing 1 in at a time.. Bring one in at 2013 and one at 2014 or 2015..

No, we dont need one, and the cost to teams would be prohibitive. Id just improve the current "farm leagues" to use a yank term, by helping to upgrade facilities and such, let the QLD teams use the Q-cup and the rest use the NSWRL cup. There is actually not too much wrong with the structure now, its just that squad sizes are too small to allow teams to have solid vets and journeymen in their top 25 so they have to throw NYC players into first grade before they're ready. And thats when the angst starts.

I agree. No-one is willing to pay for the NSW Cup live on tv. The NYC is live on tv and is awesome. I just loved watching the young dragons play the other day. We should be pushing for more live NYC games as well. Have a watch of the Warriors, Nth Qld or Melbourne.

TBF the AFL have manufactured teams to put in so needed longer build up times. Reds and Bears have been at this for 5+ years already and are ready to rumble. Just need a 2 year lead in to sign players and staff. The development work has been done for our bids where as the AFL needed to start from scratch when they announced expansion in 2008. From scratch their teams came in with 3 and 4 year lead ins respectively. We need only two and don't need to delay the value of the extra game and new audiences longer than necessary for the new clubs to build their squads and backroom staff.
