New blood is great, until we need a forward and we don't have one on the bench. Or we need a back and we can't fill in.

Ando's point is this is an Australian team and we must pick a team to win.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is football - not the Miss Australia pageant. It's on what you win, not how many friends you make.

Conservatism is not bringing in the new blood when the time is right. Lewis won a NRL grand final for his team. Smith is an old has been playing nothing football in England.

With Crocker at 5/8, and Smith on the bench, this is the best ever chance Britian has been given to beat Australia. With Crocker on the bench, wing at 5/8, Lewis in the centres you have your four forwards on the bench anyway. Crocker becomes the ultility player.

Smith should not be selected in the squad in my opinion, he hasn't earnt his place.

 Some more classic stuff from Anderson in today's Telegraph:

On Clinton, Anderson said: "If we picked Joel Clinton it would have been only to give him a go and while we were tempted to do that, it was more important to choose a side we thought could win the game.

"If I picked him it would be sending bad messages to the players that this is a fun game – it's not, it's a Test match."

So, according to Anderson, a player who had an awesome season playing for the premiership winning team, is not worthy of selection for a dead rubber, whereas a player in virtual retirement, is. Clinton and Lewis are the future of the Test team so playing them in this game would seem very logical.

Anderson's coaching is becoming increasingly bizarre and despotic.
