Where do the players live in Sydney?

Do they live in the local area of the club they play for to save travel and such or do they tend to live in the most fashionable areas that their paycheques can afford for the prestige?

A lot live in the shire mate. Eastern suburbs is popular as well. Most of the pleb players would live close to where they play though

Cheers Moffo. Are you saying that a lot of non-Sharks players live in the Shire? If so, why is that, is it a bit removed from the general chaos of Sydney traffic?

They live there because GWS is taking over the west and they are scared of bumping into Izzy cause he might kick them for a behind.

I don't know about current players but Girdler lived in Newport during his playing days and still lives up that way (owns a coffee shop on Dee Why Beach), Fitler lives in Collaroy and has since his playing days. Matt Johns lives in Long Reef. Joel Monaghan lived in Seaforth when he was playing for the Roosters. On the flip side, Joe Galuvao still lives out Penrith way and travels by bus and train to Narrabeen.

Dunno where most of those places are but can hardly believe Galuvao goes by bus and train to Narrabeen each day. Btw training and travel, when does he sleep or find time for his family?

Galuvao gets on my train at St Marys each morning.

The Alfords Point/Illawong area seems to be popular for sporting celebrities. There's a local shopping centre at Illawong where I've run into past and present league players, cricketers and various other sporting identities.

I know Warriors players live all over Auckland, think Shaun Johnson lives all the way up on the hibiscus coast which is like an hours drive from Mt Smart

GWS players live in the eastern suburbs / Inner west and quite possibly have never set foot west of Ashfield except to play games. GWS my arse.

Gus Gould lives in Yowie Bay (Cronulla)
Both Matt Elliott and John Lang lived around Cronulla when they coached Penrith
Ivan Cleary lives in Emu Plains (Penrith)
Scott Prince lived in Glenmore Park (Penrith) when he played for the Tigers

All those places are on the Northern Beaches. Apparantly Galuvao used to drive to Narrabeen but it was costing him too much in petrol so he switched to public transport. Would be tough, I'd imagine either train to the city, ferry to manly then bus to Narrabeen or Train to Chatswood then 2 buses to Narrabeen. Hard slog either way.

Regarding Cleary, he still owns a house in Dee Why and will probably move back if he either coaches a team closer to the beaches or quits coaching.

Many people in Sydney have to travel 1-2 hours each way for work, so why should NRL players be any different? Joe has his family and church in the Penrith area which makes it hard to simply move house for a job
