Yeah. Being a total footy head amongst other things, I picked up IATA airport codes and airlines pretty quickly. I became offended when my parents didn't know what LAX and SFO meant.

I'm a similar sad arse.

Except i learn it from playing Flight Sim.

never even heard of ICAO. Travel industry worldwide uses IATA (International Air Traffic Association)

I knew of ICAO but our industry is heavy on IATA codes.

ICAO codes are what the pilots use. YSSY (Sydney) YSBK (Bankstown) YMML (Melbourne) etc
