with all there players gone it must free up a lot of money how come we connot buy some good players

Good questions. But don't you think Heino would have gotten an upgrade and they could be putting some in the warchest for Robbie and Benji.

Actually, I don't know where it has gone.

Heighno gets an upgrade. $10 for every missed tackle leading to a try. Half our salary cap there.

On NRL Summertime last night Teflon Tim stated WT wanted to recruit 1 x international / rep player each year for the next 3 seasons to supplement their home grown "youth" main recruitment feeder- Ellis being the first.

Maybe that is where is money has gone and planned savings going...... not explicitly stated but a reasonable assumption. I wonder if that may also be a failsafe recruitment measure if/when we lose the 2 big local stars Farah & Marshall?

f**k me dead, surely we could have forked out 220k to keep both Flanagan and Harrison. f**k off O'Hara and that monster contract.

Flanagan, Head and Te'o, realistically wouldn't have been on that big a deal, they've all got huge pay rises with their new clubs.

O'Hara's wage would've covered Ellis' signing
Harrison's wage would've covered (with some coin left over) for Lewis' signing

The money freed up by Hodgson's departure will be used to resign Marshall and Farah, as well as covering the contract top ups of a few players from last season.

thats my opinion obviously, but I am very confident that we won't be buying any new players until Farah and Marshall are sorted out. If one of them says no, then we should chase a prop.

True- I suspect Farah and Marshall's future will be resolved one way or the other very soon. We would not want to be carrying the continued uncertainty too far in to the footy season itself. Lets face it realisticaly its 2010 season we are talking about now- and if they are go hunting for crissakes go early and get a good player- try and learn from the debacle in trying to recruit a prop at seasons end after they have all been snapped up.

This seems to be the way to go ever since Des started it when he took over Manly.

i suspect you will have plenty of cash to use in 2010 when marshall and farah depart.

I'm not overly worried if they leave- Farah may need, or want, a fresh field on which to show his wares for rep selection and Marshall has an awful lot of pressure and expectations riding on his shoulders (pardon the pun) if he remains at WT's.

In either instance if they go, WT have options- unfortunately less so in Farah's case (since letting Flanagan go), than Marshall but we can survive. Halatau / Morris could be rewarded with a new contract for 2010 onwards as hooker - you never know.......................

I cant believe it has taken three years of rubbish for Sheens to come up with this brain busting idea of buying a quality player each year. Imagine Sheens will be going to the spring sales instead of the Bourke clearing sales. No more Peter Lewis, Nick Youngquest etc.
Teflon must be finally being asked to deliver

Harrison was on way more than 120k. He was on 100 when he was in flegg. We need to manage our funds esp to junior stars better ie create a culture of wanting to be here for not so ridiculous amounts. For example a balmain junior prop named in the Oz school boys last year, currently in the NYX squad is on 80k a year over three years and is a few eyars off grade yet- not bad for 17. We need to be more wise when spening our $$$ IMO

Honestly, watch the lead up to our trys conceded. In all seriousness, it's unbelievable how often he should be making a tackle in the play or two before the opposition score.

I bet if he keeps it up, this time next year, you will agree with me.

Have I missed something? I thought Lewis was signed by Balmain or the Magpies and wasn't in the top 25 for next year? So Wests Tigers wouldn't have used any space in the cap to sign him?

Given our woeful lack of props and the fact it doesn't come out of the first grade cap...if thats what it takes to keep Woods at the club I'm not going to object too strongly...
