That Aporto chicken stuff is not half bad either.
Expensive though.
Their sweet BBQ sauce with the grilled chicken is beautiful.

I don't mind Mcdonalds McNuggets either and KFC nuggets as well.

Here's the bad news, people!
I've come up short minus one spice in Y2eel's KFC ingredients.
You cannot get CELERY SALT in any supermarket.
We take this moment out in rememberence of celery salt.

Even Asian grocers don't know what it is.
One said that all spice can be substituted as celery salt.

No dammit, someone merged this with the salt thread.

THE COLONELS SECRET RECIPE DESERVES IT'S OWN THREAD. THE COLONEL IS HIS OWN MAN. LET'S NOT BE NAIVE HERE.

Surely they have sacks of the stuff pre-mixed. I wonder if anyone with 'inside info' can shed any light on that. If so, we can stage a Great Train style robbery on the highway or something...

Top of the morning food lovers.

There seems to be a clash of ingredients here after reading this thread.

So what is the proper ingredients?

This morning we mixed Y2eels recipe.

I end up finding celery salt in Franklins.

When we mixed all our bottle of ingredients thismorning it come out smelling like Mexican food.

I bet it turns out sh*t.

I'm going in search of ground ginger in a minute.

I don't know how to cook the chicken today either.

Do you fry it in virgin oil shallow pan?
Do you bake it in the oven?
Do you pop it under the grill?

Tomorrow I'm going to coat some wings and try BBQíng it.

Ok, here's the deal with last weeks KFC recipe.

Y2eels recipe came out tasting like toffee chicken.

It was sweet.

I grilled it and it came out looking like KFC but it didn't f*cken taste like it.

I got the look nailed down but not the taste unfortunately.

I think KFC use their own special brand of spices and not McKormacks or Master foods.

Here's Y2eels recipe

2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon onion salt
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon rubbed sage
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon basil leaves, crushed
1 teaspoon marjoram leaves, crushed finely

I think what it needs is salt.
It lacked a salty punch.
Personally, I'd put more than one teaspoon of sage, oregano, black pepper, basil leaves and Marojam leaves in your recipe.
And go easy on the brown sugar.

I think we went too heavy on the light brown sugar.

Yesterday we added our own blend of spices to the chicken and popped it on the mini BBQ and it came out quite tastey.
*We end up adding ginger to our recipe too.*

Here's a Brett Gaddes tip for yáll.
The umm, wings and drumsticks taste better than packaged Woolworths fillet breast chicken.

Fillet Breast chicken always comes out dry and is hard to swallow, do you agree with me?

Eitherway the cheap drumsticks and wings came out tastier and more succulent than the breast meat so buy the uncooked wings and drumsticks at the butcher not packaged breast meat..
The breast meat went dry.
Don't use breast meat, people.
Use those filleted drumstick chicken meat they sell they'd be even better or even thigh fillets no bone are succulent I guess.

If you wanna get real about southern fried food for a minute then here's the proper way to cook southern food.

Use either chicken or a piece of round steak.
Any steak will do really.

You get red gum honey and hot sauce (Woustershire sauce) and 2 bay leaves and a sprinkle of garlic optional, there you go, southern fried food.

Fry your chicken or steak (don't use any oil just cook it in its own juices, maybe a bit of butter but not too much,) pour honey and hot sauce over it till it sort of goes, sticky.....use high heat, make sure the soup goes sticky and sucks up into the meat on medium to high heat.
When it's cooked coat both sides in sesame seeds salt and pepper and that's proper southern fried sh*t.
Your house will smell like this food for the next 4 hours if you cook this version of southern fried food.
