Where was Tohu?

Club Captain. Shaun's last home game. I didn't see him there.
Interesting, perhaps keeping a low profile?

I do wonder how popular Johnson is with the team (unlinked to Tohu being invisible and NOT saying he’s unpopular, just he’s not Royce Simmons, if you like). They certainly didn’t lift greatly for his last game, and his image, persona etc are not typical league dude imo…. That’s not a critique on him, just hard to see him being part of a tight culture with them.
Could be completely wrong of course. Epic talent, really terrific career, but at club level I kind of feel he didn’t achieve what he might have… partly the teams he was in, but partly him too

I can’t imagine SJ being a particularly divisive squad member, seems to get along with all well enough, and didn’t drop his lip when he was given the Princess nickname. Generally you hear a whisper if there is unrest and we have never had it from him

You’re right on the last bit, thing that always sticks with me was Freddy Fittler offering some friendly advice on the Sunday Footy Show saying Shaun needed to run the ball more, the response from Shaun was I don’t care what he thinks

I didn't mean divisive - just not one of the boys - like I said, not Roycie Simmons - bit like Martin Crowe or even Hadlee was, perhaps... dunno, I picked the Dogs just because they're the better team, but thought the Warriors would show something on a big occasion, and they didn't...

There was a bit of a princess moment when RTS signed and SJ upgraded his contract. He wanted to be the highest paid player in the comp so his next contract was $1 higher than Rogers

If this is true, it's alarming as f**k.

I like Shaun but I think he has flaws as a person that have held him back from being the league player he could have been. Way too interested in social media and biting back at the 'haterz'. Clearly that affected him throughout his career. The greats don't listen to that noise. We kept hearing early in his career that he was never the hardest trainer. Not something you can completely blame him for, but I think he played in a dinner suit a bit through his career because he was so scared of getting injured.

And I really think he should have done better a few weeks ago when his Play On podcast mates called him the best Warrior of all time. That's just not near true. A bit of humility would have gone a long way, but I haven't listened to that pod again because I can't cop that sycophantic stuff.
