I am getting the impression that the club is losing patience with peach.

What other job can you suddenly walk away from citing personal oe domestic problems. If it was generally accepted there would be hardly anyone turning up for work.

I'm happy for him to have as much time off as he needs.. afterall, how much of his own time has he put aside to serve others while he's been at Cronulla? He's been totally selfless.

I'd just rather he lets the club knows what he's up to.

I agree. The public face is quite marketable. His years of service speak for themself. What puzzles me is his so call close relationship with Stu Raper. If they are that close why no communication?

Merritt is a a pretty handy Fullback, so no loss there.

Maybe in about 5 years.

Why not? Played all his junior footy with the Bunnies and the Alex Rovers at Fullback. It's not like its a totally foreign postition to him.

I'm not talking Long term either. I'm talking for the trial only.

I don't agree with the no loss there comment.

I meant, No loss for us because its only a trial. Merritt has as much attacking prowess and skill as Peach did (and still does) in his younger days.

Its no loss because this will provide us with an opportunity to experiment with players in different positions. I don't know how else you could have interpreted that...

You sure you don't work for George Bush??

That was some nice footwork Booyah & your reputation remains intact.

Just!

So, what you are saying, Reefy, is that G.W. Bush's reputation is still intact?

absolutely. He is/was/always will be, a fargwit.
Booyah on the other hand has a good rep.
But the footwork was dazzling. Reminiscent of a Bush speech on Iraq WMD.

I Feel sorry for the bloke, When you consider how much time this sport takes on a players time quite ofter their family suffers. You can't expect to have a great family life only being able to spend about 2-3 months a year as a "normal" father and husband.
I don't agree with not contacting the club, but on the other hand when you consider how much of his own time he gives up for the club and the NRL I think we should all cut him a bit of slack.

The only reason Peachey has been given so much lattitude here is because he has been a brilliant clubman to the Sharks. On and off the field he is greatly admired. Huge personal problems will most of the time make you loose sense of every other responsibility in your life.

David is of no use to the Sharks with his mind not properly appeased. He should be give unlimited time to sort out his personal problems and come back to the club when he can positively say he is 100% focused on football again.

I can understand the clubs distress that they have had no contact from him but as I stated before when your greatly distressed you loose all sense of responsibility. Stuart Raper and Barry Pierce want the Sharks to kick off all guns blazing after last years wimper and obviously feel this could be a major distraction to the team and holt any pre season momentum.

I'm sure either way David will resolve his personal problems and be well and truly focused come Round 1. I personally feel that he might only have one more season left in him so I hope it will be a season that we remember him by for all the right reasons.

All the best Peach!

SHARKS star David Peachey has returned to Sydney after controversially going AWOL and will train with the club this morning.

The star fullback contacted Cronulla coach Stuart Raper yesterday afternoon while travelling to Sydney from Dubbo.

"We had a very long discussion and he told me he'd be on deck tomorrow," Raper told The Daily Telegraph last night.

"He was very positive, he has had a lot of time to think and is confident he is ready to move on from this issue. He is a very professional person and this whole incident is way out of character."

Peachey was to have returned to training yesterday morning, but until late in the afternoon, the club had no idea of his whereabouts.

"We have contacted a lot of people and no one seems to know where he is. But we can't keep chasing him," Raper said earlier in the day.

Raper said Peachey would train with the club this morning, but would not play in this weekend's trial against a combined Central Coast side in Gosford.

"He might not be quite up to it," Raper said.

"It would be a bit unfair on the other players who have been at training all week.

"He hasn't read a newspaper or heard the news all week, so he might get a bit of a shock when he gets back."

Peachey's return provides a positive ending to a difficult week for the Sharks. Yesterday The Daily Telegraph revealed former coach Chris Anderson was suing the club for $1.3 million.

"We've had a bit of bad press this week, but that's all it is, the mood in the club is very positive," Raper said. "But I know the whole club will be pleased to know that David is coming back.

"There is not a lot else I can say until after I have sat down with David and Barry (Pierce) and talked this through with them."

Sharks operations manager Greg Pierce said Peachey needed the time out of the spotlight.

"He got himself out of the way and away from the media – it was something he needed to do," Pierce told The Daily Telegraphlast night.

"He has cleared his head and is now raring to get back to footy."
