SHARKS star David Peachey has returned to Sydney after controversially going AWOL and will train with the club this morning.
The star fullback contacted Cronulla coach Stuart Raper yesterday afternoon while travelling to Sydney from Dubbo.
"We had a very long discussion and he told me he'd be on deck tomorrow," Raper told The Daily Telegraph last night.
"He was very positive, he has had a lot of time to think and is confident he is ready to move on from this issue. He is a very professional person and this whole incident is way out of character."
Peachey was to have returned to training yesterday morning, but until late in the afternoon, the club had no idea of his whereabouts.
"We have contacted a lot of people and no one seems to know where he is. But we can't keep chasing him," Raper said earlier in the day.
Raper said Peachey would train with the club this morning, but would not play in this weekend's trial against a combined Central Coast side in Gosford.
"He might not be quite up to it," Raper said.
"It would be a bit unfair on the other players who have been at training all week.
"He hasn't read a newspaper or heard the news all week, so he might get a bit of a shock when he gets back."
Peachey's return provides a positive ending to a difficult week for the Sharks. Yesterday The Daily Telegraph revealed former coach Chris Anderson was suing the club for $1.3 million.
"We've had a bit of bad press this week, but that's all it is, the mood in the club is very positive," Raper said. "But I know the whole club will be pleased to know that David is coming back.
"There is not a lot else I can say until after I have sat down with David and Barry (Pierce) and talked this through with them."
Sharks operations manager Greg Pierce said Peachey needed the time out of the spotlight.
"He got himself out of the way and away from the media – it was something he needed to do," Pierce told The Daily Telegraphlast night.
"He has cleared his head and is now raring to get back to footy."
