Cronulla are locked in geographicaly with nowhere to grow.
The St.George area will be taken over by the sharks once the dragons move to the gong full time.

I wouldn't punt any team. Sydney is the best market in the southern hemp... RL holds it. Why kill a bit of it off? Yes expand the comp but cutting sydney teams will only hurt the game and give other codes help in cracking the market that they want more than any other.

it has too be the bulldogs, with all of the Contriversy they have given every1 and the name of the game...
but just wait until they do something wrong again... wouldnt now but the next time something majorly happened i certainly would, (dont worri it wont be long   ) they just give the game such a bad name with everything they have done.

Manly..............then bring back the bears in their place.

Oh how sweet would the justice be for Bears fans.

It'd be more poetic if SL scum like the Mountin-(other)-men got the drop for creating North Sydneys predicament...I'd hardly be pleading the Bears case, your mob just snuck in on the criteria...

super league, super league. Have a cry you dickhead.

Buy some more Parramatta players.

You've got nothing  . Can't even mount a response. stop shooting your mouth off about sh*t you have NFI about (I wasn't aware Manly sent Norths Broke...).

Super League had more to do with the Bears demise than Manly. It'd be sweet justice for all the Maggies, Balmain, Illawarra, Perth, Gold Coast, SQLD, Norths & St George fans if clubs of your treacherous ilk died out...

Thats why it was a joke you knobhead.

But u turned it around into something serious. Good one.

Go t-ba the hut, keeping up the fight for the ARL clubs that were ripped off(especially the North Sydney Bears).
I already know what its like following league without your team n i wouldnt wish it on anyone. But if it absolutely had to be a club, it would have to be a super league team.

Merging Souths and Cronulla would be a good idea.

People keep harping on about Cronulla under threat.

I think St. George's presence in Sydney is more under threat, and would just about be fatal if Souths merged with Sharks/Jets.

St. George would be surrounded by Souths from its northern boundaries, Cronulla from it's SE boundaries and the Bulldogs from its western boundaries. Potentially the Tigers from the NW if it wanted to extend down from Petersham, Lewisham and Dulwich Hill.

Then after that, get rid of the Broncos.

Split them into two South Qld sides.

If any team had to be dropped it would definately be a Sydney and of those Cronulla seems to have the least potential. If Melbourne is dropped call it the NSWRL again.

I don't particularly think anyone should be dropped (although there's teams I'd want dropped)... I'd prefer it if they brought back teams like Perth/Adelaide etc and split up all the merger teams. Not to mention another team in QLD.

what wrong with more teams?
how about 20 teams and a 20 game seanon(silly i know)
but i can't think of much wrong with 16 or 17 teams.
we need to exand the game, i want the port moresby pigs in the top eight by 2012!

but yeah, i like the rabbitoes but 2 spoons in a row, and the least wins 3 years in a row.

i liked the idea of south sydney sharkitoes.
pale blue and red
and black and green for away games.

I still like the idea of having promotion/relegation like they have in England.

I like the idea, in theory. However, it cannot work in this country. Some clubs are struggling to find the sponsorship and gate takings to keep them afloat as it is. What company will sponsor a second tier team and how big will the crowds be to watch a team that isn't even in the top division (for an answer, have a look at Newtown's crowd figures). The difference with England soccer is that they fill a stadium nearly every game, and the crowds to second division games still beat our NRL crowds.

Actually the English Super League has a promotion/relegation system, I didn't realize it until I moved over there and it seems to work out quite well. The bigger clubs loan out some of their promising junior players to 2nd and 3rd division teams for some experience against older players, and it helps out everyone.

Sponsorship and such would definitely be a problem, but as far as crowds go I think if the fans knew that the teams success could possibly see them get into the NRL it would make more people interested, I mean when I was living in Kurri Kurri I'd go to 3 or 4 games a year just out of curiosity but if that team was competiting for a slot in a higher division, and also playing a few loaned out NRL players it'd increase interest big time.

If you could dump one club from the comp in order to bring in a central coast or gold coast, who would you get rid of?

I can't go past melbourne.

Yeah great idea that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets close down any expansion teams and then put more teams in NSW!!!
That is the most backward approach to promoting a game I think I have heard...

This discussion is getting boring and is hurting the game more that it is benefitting the game..

Melbourne is here to stay.

How about Newcastle?????? Lets get rid of them hey???

Good post, Moggles.

I hate when people say things like that, we shouldn't talk about kicking out any teams.

And Newcastle are (as always) in financial trouble. In fact they were always in a bad situation, the Steelers were always better off than them. It was only that big loan they got from the Chargers that saw them survive the cut. Why don't we kick them out?!!! Of course we shouldn't. I think all teams should be helped to stay afloat, especially Melbourne.
