Where did I condone drink driving? Drink driving can result in harm, pack rape does result in harm. The difference is obvious.

where did i even say pack rape wasn't bad anyway :? i was stating 5 incidents can/are harmful to others while personal drug use is harmful to yourself

Drink driving is "the worst offence" (name of the thread) because its consequences are far greater than the rest.

you wont see a pregnant mother and 2 kids killed by a sexual assault.

But we're not talking potential here, we're talking about the end result.

Personal drug use is only harmful to the drug user? Yeah, tell that to all the victims left in the wake of P/Ice/Meth.

person takes drugs is f**king their life away. since you don't want to discuss potential consequences your argument therefore has no outside victims since it's not harming anyone else but the user unlike say ciggarettes

In terms of the poll, I'm not arguing for drug use being the worst but to say that drug use only affects the user is stupid and naive.

Put it this way.

if you commit a sexual assault, youre causing harm to someone, thats very bad obviously (im not trying to play that down as not a serious offence)

but if you get behind the wheel drunk you ARE 100% risking lives, countless lives.

put another way - what would you rather,
someone causing you some definate harm, but you live?

OR

someone flipping a coin with you and your families lives?

and in comparison to the other 5 choices drug USE causes less harm to other people. most drug related crime occurs in the hunt for possesion, not always whilst under the influence of drugs

f**k, I just read drink driving and voted.

Can it be changed to option 5?

Even though that was alleged rather than proven.

Would I take a definite over the flip of a coin? I'll call heads.

Sexual assualt may not cause death but mentally it f**ks up victims lives and I'd say related suicide statistics would be interesting.

Anybody who gets behind the wheel drunk is an idiot but there is a reason why under the law those caught will mostly recieve a fine, loss of license or minimal jail time where as those found guilty of sexual assault will be kissing half their lives away in the slammer.

Also I'd put driving with a mobile phone not far behind drink driving. Some of the worst driving I've seen has resulted in me passing them only to see the idiot chatting away on their phone oblivious to everything around them. In terms of potential idiots who can't use a hands free can be just as dangerous.

i remember seeing a case study a few years ago that showed drivers who drive on the phone are worse than drivers under the influence of marijuana. seems so harmless yet so so dangerous

Here are you options Charlie.

Bending over and having me & the front row of my old pub league team reaming you

OR

Driving home from the same party as me when I have had 4 beers in 2 hours.

Which do you choose?

Oh ok, lets play that game.

Here are your options.

walking into a bar and having some sleezy guy grab ur ass on the way past (sexual assault)

OR

Jumping into my car with me after ive had a bottle of bundy and some tequila shots in a few hours, im pretty trashed but logic is telling me that the faster i drive the quicker ill be off the road so its all good.

Lol, fair enough.

I doubt we're going to change each others minds on the matter so we can agree that both are dog acts (pardon the pun) and leave it there.

Poll aside. There is one bloke involved in this sport that has a lot less character than Johns. Having nothing to do with your child from a one night stand because you dont like his mother is a disgrace.Regularly appearing in the paper in happy family shots with your other 2 children is just rubbing his nose in it. Take a bow Mr Fittler.

This thread definately belongs in the NRL section. No doubt about it. Absolutely definately Completely NRL relevant. It couldnt be more to do with the NRL if it tried.

F*cking goose.

Right, so now you are changing your argument from rape to a grope?

Dude, you need to listen to the other people in this thread. Drink driving is dangerous, no-one is condoning that. I've had mates seriously injured from drink driving accidents, so I would never condone it either. But comparing it to rape is ludicrous. Someone committing rape is the lowest form of scum on the planet, up there with murderers.

Now, before you go "drink driving is practically murder rah rah" - deaths relating from drink driving are charged with manslaughter. Why? Because it is not intentional. And the unintentional death are not as frequent as your ridiculous 'coin-tossing' example - do you think 50% of drink driving ends up in death or injury?

Oh, as for your above example, this might sound strange to you, but some girls would choose the trip in the car, that's how bad they feel about being groped. Especially if it was by a group of men.

But you were right, the example you were responding to is one extreme, and yours is the other. We should do one right down the middle. Given the choice, would you prefer to let your sister/mum/girlfriend be violated (but not fully raped) or let her get in a car that has been scientifically built to crash and cause death exactly the same amount of times as your regular drink driver? I know which I'd pick.
