Burst onto the scene, played a few unstoppable seasons and then has never looked the same since his defensive deficiencies were discovered and exploited. Lost nearly all respect for him as a player when he said he was happy to play in NSW Cup rather than fight for his place in the team with young guys coming through the grades.

I don't agree with your view on this. Trent Barrett was quoted saying "footy is not fun anymore" in 2006 he was made a life member of the Illawarra Steelers as an active player he was offered to come back to the Dragons, under the Bennett regime but decided to play for our b rivals instead. He no longer has any affiliation with the club and will be head coach of Manly next year. Let's not forget St. George has "jobs for the boys club" at present yet a "favourite son" didn't make the cut I don't believe his heart was in our club the moment he got slapped by Brownie. This is my view and my opinion on the matter.

I remember his first series in Origin - damn he was a beast. I remember with limited ball how he was carving up Darius Boyd on that edge. The next series Cooper Cronk took his confidence apart with the highballs and he was never the same again.
