you could put an arguement forward for Ben roberts
Joe Paulo
Mitch Allgood

I reckon Matt Keating, Mitchell Allgood, Maitua? perhaps. Some individuals - but the team is going nowhere.

This may be true however there should be VISIBLE improvements after 1.5 years.
There is some good people there with great work ethics.
At no point did I say near enough is good enough that's an inference you made from my comment of "I wouldn't necessarily say that"
There may be people there who lack imagination but to say that it goes from the Chairman down is ignorant Pete. You're a much smarter poster then to make generalizations like that.
I guarantee you there are people there working themselves to a stand still for this club who are as passionate about its success as any other fan.
Really? How long should it take then? We are coming last and are going backwards and you can use all the useless cliches like 'rebuilding' Or 'overhauling' you want, but all your doing is sugar coating and accepting failure. It's not good enough and shouldn't be justified with empty excuses.
2 steps forward, 3 steps back.
I've said it about 25 times, but both Ricky Stuart and Brian Smith believe it takes approximately three years to completely overhaul a club.
Honestly, it would be incredibly naive of you to think that it should take little time to:
* change a club's mentality;
* get rid of all the players a coach doesn't want and to sign and/or develop all the ones he does;
* get the team performing as a unit;
* developing and putting structures into place to allow youngsters to easily make the transition from Under 20's/Wenty to First Grade.
The fact you call these facts "sugar coating" and "accepting mediocrity" does nothing to discredit the men who claim it takes time to change a team - frankly, all it does is make you come across as irate and impatient, which I suppose is fair enough.
There is no magical, easy fix. Is Kearney the man for the job? I honestly don't know. I'm starting to doubt it. But:
1). It wasn't Kearney out there not chasing kicks and not kicking well in that second half (we dominated the Knights early on, but our kicking and chasing was park football stuff); and
2). There are evidently big issues at this club, and like it or not, they won't be fixed overnight - give the man time. He was given a three-year deal for a reason. Seems strange to offer a rookie a long deal such as that - unless there is more to it than meets the eye.
im glad your not our coach ....
I wouldn't trust Brian Smith's words on overhauling a club. At Newcastle after three years it was more like a club ruined than a club overhauled. Then he got the Roosters to the GF in his first year.
And I haven't seen a three year overhaul where in the first two years they have gone complete shithouse like the Eels have.
were not the only team on 2 points, its early and i reckon we look better than last year. don't let your frustration cloud your judgement ...But what's your point really? We've gone backwards since year, everyone can see that

Not by results. Many fans were angry with Smith's cutting of juniors and importing players. From what was once a club mostly consisting of juniors I think they were down to 3 in first grade at one time.
that was their entire intention in hiring brian smith - to change from a introverted club with jobs for the boys to something more successful with a mixNot by results. wayne bennett isn't exactly being exclusive with local juniors either - he's dragging his merry band of followers around with him :lol: .... but no one is bitching anymore cos they got out of the expectation of newcastle being exclusively locals
I don't think it worked at all really. Since then they have actually gone back to local juniors like Tahu and Buderus and Snowden.
Smith cut a bunch of fan favourites and imported a bunch of nobodies really. It led to Buderus leaving the club.
Since the Smith era they have been average anyway so I don't think he did a whole lot.
