He may be the best player in the world at 3 and you guys want to move him? Geez.

He was a fullback growing up but that was 30kgs ago. He is a centre and the best centre in the game!

fullback for mine, he can choose to come into play either side of the field and gets opportunity to run the ball in space on kick returns.
I saw that Lang mentioned he was considering centre/pivot , hopefully this was intended to gee up all the players aiming for centre and wing and also sutton/mundine. i think hands down our key weakness is lack of a dominant Fullback.

He played fullback for a while a couple of seasons ago when Slater was out, he did a great job.

Centre in 2011, move to fullback when Wesser retires in 2012 and then I can see him continuing to bulk up and being a devestating second rower in his late career

I'd love to see him lose some weight regardless of where he plays. He used to beat defenders with his pace, now he just beats them with his fend. It'd be good to see him back to the happy medium of a couple of years ago imo.

I think not being in four nations and the earlier start to offseason training that comes with it should help. This time around he starts training on Monday, the extra time with the club should help us put him on the right diet and fitness plan that helps him help us the most.

All the guys at Souths seem to be in really, really good shape as far as their builds go. Maybe it''s just coincidence. Either way Inglis has obviously been a bit relaxed for awhile fitness wise, I hope he gets right into the swing of things

I am excitied about seeing him at full-back, if it turns out to be true. The full-back has become like an extra half-back nowadays, and the five-eighth like an extra centre, with J.McCrone possibly being the best example of this. I think Inglis has the long and short passing skills to play at full-back, and that innate footballing 'feel' to be able to time his runs into the line.

Did he win a premiership at 5/8? He will fit in anywhere but surely we have a better chance of winning with a WC winning hooker and a GF winning 5/8

Lets leave it up to the coach to decide, as this topic demonstrates he has some versatility and where he plays should be based on team balance as well as where he is best suited. I think the coach will play him in the centres and I would like to see our team play a game suited to providing him as much ball as possible. Imagine the likes of Burgess running at the line, passing out wide to Taylor back inside to Ingliss, now that should bend some line of defence.

I agree. Fullback is the best position for Greg. Just imagine some of his kick returns!

:D:D:D
When he was 17, in the QLD cup I saw many returned as tries. He has all the skills, great under the high ball, great at chiming in to a backline move, great at supporting up the middle, great at kick returns. His try rate at fullback is great.

But it could be the case like in Melbourne, Slater was better suited to fullback, so with Greg being so versitle he moved, Wesser could be seen the same.

Moving Inglis around for Slater is one thing, moving him around for Wesser is another. We have good young centres coming through, I'd hate for Inglis to be taking the spot of one of them, Wesser, while he's a great bloke, isn't the player he once was. And if the coaches think the best place for GI is fullback, but don't put him there because of Wesser, I'll be disappointed.

Wesser has a strong catch but I saw maybe 2 or 3 games all season where he seemed to threaten the line

He played really good in those games, if he played like that all the time he''d make a good FB. But he doesn't

The problem is, where do we move Wesser if he's taken from the FB position?

Maybe a utility role off the bench?

Wesser is in his last year , i would rather groom a young centre / winger and backup up fullback ( Mcqueen?) and have Wesser in reserves and coming up when team needed him , especially during rep games.

Is McQueen good? I can't recall him playing

Now that we've finally got Greg Inglis, in which position do we play him?

He could stay in his natural position in the centres although he has expressed a desire to play at five-eighth. If he does end up in the halves, what would happen to John Sutton? I believe Ben Lowe was a revellation last season at lock and I wouldn't like to see him shifted out of that position to make way for Sutton.

The other option is for Inglis to play fullback.

What do you all think?
Centre. Give him the ball at every opportunity plus Souths will get their money's worth.

Made his debut at Brookvale in '09 and scored a double if I recall correctly. Then he did his knee at the beginning of the year and missed the whole season. Worth persisting with though.
