Who do you rate as the biggest loss?

The knights have lost a few big names over the years, however who do you rate as the player that went on to dominate for their new club the most?

I can't go past Paul Rauhihi. I was shattered when he left and then he went on to become one of the best props in the country. Ben Kennedy hurt also, however Kennedy didn't last that long until he retired.

What player would you pick as the one that got away?

Ben Kennedy. May not have lasted long but those were up there with his best years at Manly.

If Luke Walsh keeps improving he'll be up there.

No joke, I actually felt real physical pain when Timana Tahu went to Parramatta. I remember the day I found out about him leaving. I literally paced up and down the main hallway of my parent's house raging about why he would join the club he helped beat in 2001. I think at that point I've never hated Parramatta more in my entire life. Of course I don't hate the Eels at all now, got no reason to. But at the time :x

Then when BK signed with Manly...I just completely lost it. It felt like Winston Churchill had just teamed up with the Nazis.

Kennedy. We might have got poor value out of him in his last few seasons with us but it would have been worth it to get two final seasons like Manly got out of him.

Matt Johns was probably the most painful loss in how it all happened. He should have been a one club man. I know we won 2001 because we used his salary elsewhere but it was a painful exit.

Worst loss was Greg Bird for 30c as a 16 year old.

Boyd Cordner looked like he would be as big a loss, but so far he has been very injury prone.

We never had Greg Inglis, but we should have had a shot at signing him.

Kennedy by the length of the straight, saw the 2001 grand final on Fox and he was colossal for us, should have won the CC medal.

He didn't want to leave and we forced him out, then panicked and bought Reynoldson for about 15k a year less than Kennedy wanted.

A **** up of mammoth proportions.

Tahu, next, then Bird.

I can't help but think we could have got the absolute best out of Owen Craigie over a long period...

Not even close mate. There is no comparison between what Ben Kennedy and what Cooper Vuna gave the club...

Cooper was a big loss as a fan favourite... But as for his contributions and what we lost when he left, he was a long way behind some of the names being thrown around.

For me Matty Johns, BK and Timana stand out. It is hard to pick one of them, i just remember being gutted each time. T has had his issues but i can't wait to see him back in the red and blue. I hope he has a massive season and reminds us of why we were so sad to see him go.

Cooper gave us his fair share of drama's as well - trouble with the police, had his manager negotiate with other clubs because he wasn't getting game time. Given he appears to have walked out on his current club perhaps we are better off without his drama?

It is a good point, and an odd case.

On one side of the coin you have a guy that seemed to love the club, love the town and love the team. He was always smiling, seemed well respected amongst the players and was a fan favourite.

Yet the drama you mentioned is there as well. It doesnt seem to suit him from an outside point of view.

I think the reason him leaving hurt and was such a shock is because he was killing it in career best form and he looked like the happiest man in newcastle.
