Has there ever been a better player in Blue and Gold than the "Mayor" Ken Thornett?? He is my all time favorite Parramatta player. A man on whom the rock that is the modern day Eels was built upon.
And believe it or not, Ken was the one who was first to suggest the State of Origin concept. Not Ron McAullife or Kevin Humphreys as is the common belief.

Very tough decision??

I honestly reckon that Eric Grothe was the best talent the club ever produced....unfortunately injuries ruined his career.

We have not had a player with Grothes speed, size & strength before...he was a freak.....his great try's & super last ditched tackles are among RL folklore.

Peter Sterling was another great...but imo Brett Kenny was better,Kenny out played Lewis on countless occassions but was always moved to centre due to the selectors love affair with Lewis, a tradegy i believe.

A great Parra player from the 90's??...Scott Mahon!!, brillant in attack and held our side together for soem time, i remember seeign alot of Scott in 93, he was dynamic for us & his performances against St George, Manly, Canberra etc that year where a pleasure to watch.

Guys like Mick Cronin and Brett Kenny were my favourites as a kid, but if I had to name a greatest of all time, I'd say Peter Sterling....fantastic footy brain, excellent kicker, controlled teh game marvellously and was a top class defender for his size.

What about Ian Jonhstone? Never saw him play, of course, but he was our first ever Australian rep. That had to make him a bloody good player, at worst!

Seriously tho, unless you have been under a rock for the last 12 months you'll know the mayor is my all time favourite Eel, closely followed by Stirlo.

So if anyone has a photo of the mayor in the blue and gold, I would appreciate it as "Halfy the Banner God" could not find a photo of the mayor for my banner, as I wanted Ken Thortnett, Stirlo and Jamie Lyon, as my "wish list" banner.

Three way tie between Sterlo, Bert and Guru.

Now there were some boys that could play some free-range footy.

I've added the poll up top so have a look. Personally I'd say Thornett but Rayner and Lynch would come close too.

Much too hard a call to make, There have been some amazing players for Parra but each had their own talents and were special in different areas for different reasons. I'd be loathe to choose just one.
