bit of a shame that he has that arm injury. If he could stay on the field he would do us well.

I think Cayless, Wagon and Vella all make good captains. Cayless is the incumbent and deserves the job, however. Anyone who thinks Vella doesn't play twice as good when he is captain is kidding themselves. And Wags has the respect of the rest of the team, which is necessary for the role.

And whoever mentioned Burt, he has captained Parra once. Carrarra trial with a basically reserve grade team v Manly 2 years ago. Needless to say we smashed the first grade Manly team and Burt has a 1-0 record :)

How about a co-captainship??
Caylo is the number 1 choice for talking to the refs and laying down the law to the boys, but Hindy sure fires up behind the goalposts when another team has scored on us.
Hindy doesn't need the extra responsibility - he really just needs to do what he does every week. His temper would probably see him thrown in the sin bin every week.
Wags and Caylo have the mentality and control to talk to the refs with respect which is what is needed in a captain

great minds think alike my dear friend. ;-)

I think it's disgraceful that people aren't showing the respect that Daniel desearves, he's a bloke with a clear head and knows how to communicate with the man in the middle.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

yep, bring back the co-captain.

As much as you all know I love Hindy, it would have to be Caylo. Hindy is a little bit too abusive towards the ref and would be seeing himself spending more time in the bin than on the field. I do believe that Hindy's job should be to rev the players up (hopefully we wont need it next year tho). This year whenever we were in a huddle after being scored against, it was just way too quiet.

I do think we would benefit from a captain who gets the referees' respect like Wagon but also pulls off Power Plays.

A huge git, a hue hit-up.

Caylo, Hindy, Wags, Micky V - as much as I am fond of them, they are simply not up for it.

Riddell might be a good choice. Morrison too.

PJ would be the obvious choice if you don't want go with the 4 you mentioned. Atleast he's had experiance with the Warriors.

Hopefully Captain Cayless will remain injury free in 2005 and we will see the captain of old leading our boys around the field

Firstly, any poll without Rod just isn't a poll at all.

Caylo is the only real option I think.....sure he gets a bit agro at times, but we bloody need a capt who will have some balls...Waggy just isn't out-going enough to be captain - he takes too much shit without arguing.

The only other option I see is Vella....yes Vella....he plays best when there is some responsibility on his shoulders.

I really can't see anyone else in the team who is experienced enough to be see as a leader by the rest of the team....yes Hindy is a leader, but he doesn't want to be captain.

He was pretty bad in the game v the Cowboys at home. Lost the plot.

he did not lose the plot.......many respected journalists of the game said he simply did his job as Captain and questioned the referee about many questionable calls and he did so in a polite many without swearing....

his high shot was more clumsy than anything and yes borne out of frustration and he would be the most frustrated player at the club over the last 2 years for so mmany reasos.......lay off the Captain....!!!!!!!!

you may be right,

but I saw it differently that night.

in saying that he still has the runs on the board to lead our side, no doubt about that.

cayless is the man......

and i realise that many people might roll their eyes at this statement but i truely believe that he has just as much impact on the team and the team's performance and confidence as Hindmarsh......maybe even more so.......

at the trial in Ballina this year, myself and my group were privellidged enough to jag seating 1m or so behind the EELS bench for the entire game and it was interesting to watch the players interacting......Cayless just commanded instant respect from all players even if they were joking around or goofing off on the sidleines, while off the field (it was only a trial remember)

and at one point they were all standing up near the bench trying to get the best view of the game towards the end of t he fourth quarter.....some of the crowd (including some of my group) yelled out for them to sit down so the crowd could see, yet hardly any of them took any notice - until Cayless - who was also off at the time - noticed the calls and quickly stood up and asked the others to sit down so that the paying crowd could see properly - and al of them immediately sat down or layed down to get out of the way without even the slightest glimpse of concern or arguement - because they saw who it was that was asking......???????

a simple example - but just seeing it hit home with me and reinforced vmy already lofty impressions of the Captain......

there's no doubt the majority want Caylo as captain however I believe there's a great deal to gain from having co-captains.

Vella as Co-Captain. Bloke plays on fire with a bit of leadership put on his shoulders.

I know my vote doesn't count for much........but I voted Hindmarsh.
.

no, your vote is welcome MP :D

but i would have been more impressed if you had voted for Cayless - as he IS Parramatta in many ways and as i said in another post (somewhere) means just as much - if not more than Hindmarsh to the club IMHO.......
