In 2013 they had a WC squad to pick the day after the game....and were not picking Maloney, they'd look pretty stupid if they gave him the medal, left him out of the squad and lost the WC, so they just gave it to DCE. But that being said the award has been purely political for over a decade.

Maloney would have been my vote last night (and also in 2013), I am fine with Lewis getting it though.

They should have just picked someone, anyone from the roosters in 2013. We sound bitter but as a supporter base we were ripped off the opportunity to celebrate a CC medal with one of our players, a privilege the sharks fans deservedly got last night.

As for last night i thought Maloney went missing in the 2nd half and should have been pinged for 3 forward passes. He was great in the 1st half. Fifita couldn't have got it for obvious reasons so Lewis was a good choice. I am shocked it wasn't Gallen TBH, he was better than JT last year.

It really isn't, it's basically given to a high profile player from the winners who has a solid game. When was the last time a non-marquee name won the award? Boyd? Kite? Berrigan? Priddis? Even those guys have played for the Kangaroos.
