Frankly, who gives a f**k? Has there ever been a more mediocre pack of contenders for the bottom spots in the 8? This year is the best possible argument for a final 5.

Not at all.

The fact that the knights and panthers are playing superior footy at the moment, combined with the tigers reputation for horrible choking ability when they are trying to scrape into the 8 means they'll likely not be there.

Really though 7th and 8th are going to be cannon fodder for 1st and 2nd anyway so its a bit of a moot point.

The Knights have been playing superior footy? Didn't their win over Cronulla end a run of losses? And didn't Penrith lose yesterday, and pull off one of the arsiest escapes in the history of sport last week? Or is "superior" only relative to the dross like Souffs below them?

Id love to see the two most dominent teams of the last 3-5 years play each other in the GF for the ultimate showdown.

Melbourne vs StGeorge

I cant imagine a better contest on the main stage in Sydney in front of 80 thousand people.

Personally, I think positions 6-8 are all up in the air. I thought the Warriors were just about specials for 6th, but looking at their draw; it's not the easiest run home.

The Knights have a reasonable run, with four home games out of the last six rounds.

Prior to Friday night I would have said the 'Dogs were no chance, but they've actually got a pretty good run home.

I think the Tigers should get there and it will probably be between the Knights and 'Dogs for the remaining spot. As to the exact finishing order - who knows.

So in summary, I think positions 6-8 will be made up of three of the Warriors, Tigers, Bulldogs and Knights.

It doesn't even matter. The top five are so far ahead of the remaining teams in terms of quality/class it's ridiculous.

A perfect example is last Friday night. The Bulldogs and Eels game was as bad as it gets and Brisbane/Melbourne was great.

The Warriors and Tigers are the only two outside the five that have any chance at all. The remaining teams just don't have the troops or are a rabble.

The conditions had very little to do with it. If you think the Bulldogs or the Eels are anywhere near Brisbane or Melbourne you're an idiot.

Did you watch the games? Canterbury and the Eels have been putting people with insomnia to sleep for weeks now.

No, I don’t think the Bulldogs and the Eels are anywhere near Melbourne's level... However if you think the conditions didn't affect the spectacle of the game (Which you're claiming was shit) then you're an idiot!

Id love to see any other sides play good, entertaining footy in those conditions lol seriously, it was a boring game but you guys are exaggerating it and forgetting the circumstances surrounding it.

This.

The bottom three teams don't even deserve to call themselves finalists, and they can expect a quick exit from the finals anyway.

Which two of the lowest ranked teams in the eight can possibly make the 'grand' final.

The winner of that contest would go down on record as being the best team of 2011.
