When Gaz plays 5/8 in 2007?

Beau Scott, Ben McDougal, Ben Hornby, Brett Morris, or Ben Creagh?

If only they kept Millard as he was ideal.

They should of went for Jake Webster or Josh Hannay instead of Beau Scott or Ben McDougal.

I would try Ben Hornby at centre and see how he goes. I am sure he will be fine anywhere he plays.

I hope for your sides sake Scott performs next year unlike he did with us.

Actually - he probably will.

None of the above.

I choose Wes. Big, strong, fast, consistent, great defender. Similar to Webster, really - only better. Hannay lol - he has nothing.

It's Luke McDougall btw, not Ben. And Beau Scott will be a backrower for us.

Argee still hoping the Gasnier 5/8 move fails and Hornby bak in the 6 by round 5 at latest

Don't know why you'd be hoping it fails. Surely if the Gaz move succeeds it will only be good for the team.

I don't think Gaz will get a start at 5/8th. He'll partner Coops and it's a 5/8th we have to look for. Give me Hornby, he can play anywhere, the man's a freak !!! :)

I don't know why everyone is getting their nickers in such a knot over arbitrary numbers on players' backs.

Gasnier will be wearing a 6 on his back next year. Save a complete disaster (or injuries) he will wear it for the majority of the season.

The fact that he's wearing a 6 and Hornby's wearing a 1 doesn't mean squat. Gasnier will be our 5/8th but will not play a traditional 5/8th role. He'll be a ball runner roaming around the field (a role he's largely been playing this year anyway with a 3 on his back).

Any ball playing (he actually has a very good short passing game) and kicking (he showed potential when he played 5/8th for NSW) skills he can bring to the table will be a bonus. The second reciever ball playing and kicking roles will be largely taken by Hornby in a 1 jersey and Young in a 13 jersey.

As to the topic question, I can't see anything other than:

1. Hornby
2. Morris
3. Naiqama
4. Cooper
5. Macdougall
6. Gasnier
7. Head

Argee with all that though imo if moving Gasnier to 5/8 fails early on if i were Brown i wouldnt continue with it or our season may fall away, Hornby has proved to me that he now is a more then capable half and just as good there as fullback, and why would u move the worlds best centre to 5/8(even if hes a roaming 5/8) when he never played there on a consistent basis and when he can cause havek with opposition wingers and centres, we've got a handy replacement in Hornby, imho i think Brownie may of outsmarted himself this time, then again ill be happy to bit my words, only the pre season and early rounds will show if hes pulled of a masterstroke

I think one of the Morris boys will move there as one of them is a specialist centre/winger.

he did? i dont recall him kicking the ball in that match, if he did maybe the once. Even when Gower was tackled on the 5th, Breet Hodgson came in to kick. Gasnier is the best centre in the world, why move him to 5/8 when he is nothing more that Average in that position

Come to think of it, I can only remember one kick in the origin game. If memory serves though it was a cracker. In any case, the point is that if he can get a half-decent kicking game that'd be a nice bonus to a team with plenty of other second reciever kicking options.

As to the question "why move the best centre in teh world to another position where he's not percieved to be as good?" there are two answers.

1. As already outlined, he won't be playing a traditional 5/8th role. He'll effectively be a roaming centre.
2. If he was to play a traditional 5/8th role I think he'd be much better than people give him credit for.

If only we overspent on a player that is slow for a backrower and let go better players like Josh Morris Keith Lulia cost half as much and will be a big damaging centre and backrower with pace

He would not be the only one How can you agree with Godz Illa and HMS Cheesemaker who are talking about the positioning and numbers and then say

You dont agree with what they are saying or understand what Brown and these guys have said about what Gasnier will be doing

So six games into a five year contract and you will have figured it out?

Basically my overall point on the issue is that I currently enjoy Gasnier playin the role he has predominantly throughout his career being out wide runnig at oppostion backs and i dont want to see him moved and as a result that it may hinder rather then benefit him, as for the comment on brown pulling off a masterstroke or not maybe six games into a five yr contact may seriously show us that Gasnier is or isnt a half, my main concern is losing a season over it for long term benefit when our club can compete on a consistent basis yr in yr out

Father Ted - who is the club?

My 0.02 - Wes to centre - Gaz to 5/8. However - at set plays etc - I think he will be at centre

Put it like this. Gaz will be 5/8 unless he sustains an injury (god forbid). I don't see B Morris playin Fullback. My backline is.......

1.Hornby
2.MacDougall
3.Naiqama
4.Cooper
5.B Morris
6.Gasnier
7.Head
